I do think McCain is a limp wristed sort and based on the fact that he is willing to walk away from his ideals to claim he is bi-partisan I can't vote for him.

So no way I'm buying it that he meant the American people. He would have clarified that. And, the GOP have been saying the economy was strong for the past 7 years. Are we to believe they meant the American workers?

Being from the south also (assuming you're from Arkansas), I would think you would understand. You can call someone the most useless, ignorant piece of a pitiful excuse for life east of the Rockies, but you should say it to their face. It's no less disrespectful, nor would it be in the above case, but to do otherwise makes you look weak and too cowardly to stand by your own words.

In my experience, most people who make more than 250,000 per year, almost never have any justifiable reason to call their dollars "hard-earned". Maybe you're the exception jsanders. I'm just glad you're doing so well.

And I wanted to tell you something jsanders. I came from a fairly poor family. I Iwouldn't call it poverty, and we didn't use any kind of government assistance. We were on a very tight budget. Growing up, my sister was not as "bookish" as I was or I guess "elitist" as I was. I was able to get a scholarship and go to college. She struggled to finish high school. Afterwards, she got a job at a local store. Then she got married and within a year had a child. She worked her ass off. She was injured in a car accident when someone ran a stop sign. They had to rebuild her ankle and lower leg and came very close to amputation. As soon as she was out of the hospital, she found a new job and went back to work full time. I have visited her after work and see her practically have tears streaming down her face from the pain in her leg since her job required her to stand all day. Still she worked full time and so did her husband. But even with that, they could barely stay ahead. Expenses just seemed to constantly outweigh income. Neither of them had a job that offered employee health coverage. If it was not for programs that provided healthcare for children by the state and provided her extra help with groceries, I don't know how she would have gotten by. And I guarantee that every damn dollar she earned was hard-earned.

So when you start pissing on assistance programs, try to remember those who the programs were created for, rather than just the assholes who take advantage.

Bill Gates was known for working 60 hour work weeks. Most executives spend more time in the office than at home. That means time away from their families. Lawyers and accountants (my profession) work two of the most tedious jobs known to man, and I know plenty of both who work 70-80 hours per week.
