I went to get a breakfast sandwich this morning and a guy was filling this metal salvage company truck with diesel.

I asked him how much it cost to fill it and he said "Almost $300", and that's every day.

Thanks Joe Biden.

295.01 divided by 71.103 equals 4.149.

That means he's paying roughly 4.15/gal for diesel (using the figures in your OP). Just a year ago, diesel was running around 5.40/gal here in Newberry.

Yeah, I guess you could say "thanks Joe".

And.....................he's paying damn near 300 dollars per day? Are you sure? Because the average diesel truck in the form of an 18 wheeler gets around 6.5 miles per gallon. If he's getting 71.103 gallons at a time, 71.103 times 6.5 equals 462.1695. That means he's driving over 450 miles per day! Is he a long haul trucker? And, if he's driving that many miles per day (which translates to 7.13 hours of driving at 65 mph) is he an independent or does he work for a trucking company?

Lots of questions here........................

Av-gas is almost the same stuff. No wonder small air transport companies can't stay in business. Maybe a battery operated 747?

$2,100 is what it takes if the person works seven days a week. Good luck to whoever is stuck with a diesel bill like that.

God bless you and them always!!!

I'm just going by what the driver told me. The company that owns the truck is the only metal salvage company within 70 miles and is located in a rural area, and they serve 11 counties. The bed of the truck is big enough to put a car in, and the salvage company own several of them similar to this one...

To put the price of diesel into perspective, it was $1.99 per gallon in February of 2016 and got up to $3 per gallon in August 2019, then rose to $5.75 by June of 2022.
