I've been thinking. We have a limited government coming. Whether it's from us voluntarily cutting things back or it's from us being unable to fund things because of the massive overspending or debt, there are going to have to be major cuts to government eventually. It's not sustainable long term.

Obviously, they way it happens is a choice we will have to make, but I am not entirely sure we are capable of having a limited government right now. It's something I'd love to see. But there are so many people in society that have been conditions to handouts. Even those of us who don't take handouts get alot more from the Federal Government spending than we realize.

In order to truly have a limited government, and to avoid the massive riots, death, and chaos that would come with an abrupt shift off the government teet, we need to be prepared. We need as many people as possible prepared.

We need to be rooted as strongly as we can in reality. I supposedly have a pension with my job. I realized a while ago that it's not going to be likeley that Ill ever see a dime of that pension, because quite frankly, we won't be able to afford something. It's not why i took the job to begin with. As far as I am concerned, it's not money I will ever see.

I've been thinking a bit about education as well. I don't think the public school systems are sustainable. The expenses they put out, the lack of results. I think we are going to need people creating some sort of afforable private schools. Off kids tuition or ways to work off their tuition. Something that doesn't involve government intervention.

And the colleges are going to have to change too. I don't think the financial aid is always going to be available. And how feasible is it for people to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a degree only to end up working in retail when they get out of college? Believe me, I am for education. But the current set up doesn't really seem feasible. Nor does it seem right that people need to enslave themselves in debt for the next 10-20 years to pay off a degree they cant even get a job with. Especially when they can learn things by going to the library and reading books. Or through research online or personal experimentation.

And then there are the people on the welfare roles. How do we take care of the people who geniunely need help without paying for all the people who are just mooching?

I am convinced that we need individuals stepping up and doing alot more for their fellow man. We need to come up with these ideas and infrastructure now. Because I think we are running out of time. These current methods just arent sustainable. What kind of ideas do you have? What can we do to help others without the government? What can we do to take care of our needs without the government?

And please dont make this into one group vs another. Because we are all in this together.

Beck thinks enough people can be prepared to rescue those who are unprepared.
He is wrong , when the golden hoard comes it will be with scorched earth and blood in the street in a wave of madness that has never been seen before.

Worst case scenario, there is enough civil disruption to bump us back to the equivalent of the 1930s. More likely just to the 1960's is going to occur if the shit hits the fan. To knock us further back than that will require a destruction of infrastructure akin to a regional doomsday disaster like losing the entire electric grid or a massive famine or disease like the 1918 flu with it's 20% mortality rate aimed mostly at healthy adults.

What is coming is going to be bad. That is for sure. Beck believes Weimar republic or Confederate States bad is possible. At my worst, I can see that... but reality often falls between the 40 yard lines. Best case scenario is we stop it in time. that I don't see happening either. So... The truth is, it's probably going to be very rough, and we will be able to 'save' many, but not all, and certainly not none.

If you give money or time to a church that helps the poor, you are involved in a form of government.

If you share roadways or other infrastructure built either by you or your ancestors, you are involved in government.

If you cooperate with your neighbors on any project from neighborhood watch to a new airport, you are involved in government.

The first step is to define what government is to be.

Do We want to hire professionals to establish standards and inspect food and drinking water that is sold or simply let the buyers beware?

Do we want to establish standards for safety in the consumer goods that are sold to us and our neighbors or simply let each of us take our chances in the market place? Should there be fire safety standards for children's sleep wear, or should we simply wag our fingers at the parents who don't care enough about their kids to learn the combustibility of modern fabrics?

Are passable roads and safe bridges worth the taxes we pay for them?

Nobody would care what the size of government was if everyone thought that taxes were collected fairly and there was a reasonable list showing what was collected and what it was spent on. The concept of 'Limited Government' is a moot discussion before a thorough discussion of fair tax collection and a discussion of what We, The People WANT from our government. I for one enjoy the peace of mind I get from knowing that the Food and Drug Administration is keeping an eye on food quality (when they've not been hamstrung by the food industry lobby) and I enjoy the peace of mind that I get knowing that the Environmental Protection Agency is keeping an eye on the energy and chemical industries (when they've not been hamstrung by their corporate lobbyists).

Think about how much peace of mind is brought to you by your government that is not related to the military... :eusa_think:

In the short term, we'll have bread lines and people disappearing off the streets going to re-education camps (or whatever they'll call them here), and mostly the same things you've seen historically when a country is opted under communist and/or socialist control. The one certain thing we know is that the plan for this country is for it to be reduced to a third-world status. We've heard this rumored over the past few years, but now we see the actual deeds being done which will ensure it. After a final holocaust (really the first for white Americans), we'll have divine signs, wonders and ultimately a global catastrophe wherein the majority of humaity will perish.

After this however, in what's referred to as the "the era of peace" or "the new times", humanity will surely return to a limited form of gonvernment. But until these final - and truly worst things ever - have transpired, we won't see anything other than a decrescendo into darkness. The antichrists get their time just as we will in the future -- every dog has his day.

Why we will never be prepared.

How do we prepare for a limited government?

I think your question would be better phrased;

How would I spend half the money the Gov't takes from me every year?

I'd like to replace the carpet, buy the YS braces, and have the house painted.

That's just the first year.

Or for many how would I get by with half as much money this year?

In iny reasonably forseeable short term, cuts in federal spendig will result in higher state and local taxes.

Well, I see your point, if I was living in CA, which sucks up most of the Federal revenue from other states.

Do you live there?

If so, I'm sorry.

If you like, I'll send you some jackalope to sustain you through ........
