    Strangely, it looks very similar to the planet in "The Forbidden Planet" (A 1953 sci-fi film.)

    I love that movie - it's based on Shakespeare's "The Tempest".

    I keep waiting to see a large bone thrown into the air or a black monolith.

    I love it too :) I'm rather partial to The Tempest, as my parents named me after one of the characters in it.

    That's pretty cool - so the play and the movie have some special meaning for you!

    I generally prefer the 50s era SciFi with the hokey special effects to today's overdone films. The dialogue was much better.

    I agree :) Though I prefer old movies to newer ones in general.
    I could watch Frank Capra films all day.

    I am totally hooked on those old Douglas Sirk films: Magnificent Obsession, All That Heaven Allows, Imitation of Life and others of the same genre. Total chick flicks, but very satisfying.
