A bill offered by Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., and expected to pass easily would provide 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits for more than 300,000 jobless people who live in states with unemployment rates of at least 8.5 percent and who are scheduled to run out of benefits by the end of September

    only 300,000 people? wow,

The recession does appear to be over/ending. It's not clear what part the stimulus had in that.
No, not at all. Unemployment is a lagging indicator...usually one of the last things to improve, so it'll take more than a couple of months for any real improvement.
Because a lot of eligible people still need it.

That only extends the ones who need the extension right now, and that figure does not include those whose benefits are not yet coming to an end, STUPID!

Gad can't you do anything, figure out anything without a guide to lead you by the hand????

The national rate is about 12%. Of half the population or 150 million people, 2/3 of whom work that would make it about 12% of 100 million and that equals about 12 million people......

Unemployment always lags behind during any economic recovery. It's one of the last economic indicators to recover.
