House Democrats seek investigation of Trump Foundation

Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)House Democrats are seeking a Justice Department investigation of the Trump Foundation, following reports about a large donation he gave to Florida's attorney general in 2013.

Trump donated $25,000 to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi's campaign, as her office was considering whether to open an investigation into Trump University. Bondi's office did not open an investigation, and Trump and Bondi have both said there was no wrongdoing and said the donation was not tied to any favors.

"These payments may have influenced Mrs. Bondi's official decision not to participate in litigation against Mr. Trump," Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee wrote in their letter Tuesday to Attorney General Loretta Lynch. The Democrats specifically cite anti-bribery laws in their request.

The donation gained new attention following reports that Trump agreed to pay a $2,500 fine to the IRS because he originally gave to Bondi's campaign from his charity, the Trump Foundation.

NY Attorney General opens investigation of Trump Foundation.

New York attorney general opens 'inquiry' into Trump Foundation
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has opened an investigation into the Donald J. Trump Foundation “to make sure it’s complying with the laws governing charities in New York," he said Tuesday.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed Schneiderman’s remark and said the New York Attorney General’s office “has opened an inquiry into the Trump Foundation based on troubling transactions that have recently come to light.”

Schneiderman -- who for months has tangled with Trump over a fraud lawsuit his office filed against Trump University, the Manhattan billionaire’s real estate seminar program -- told CNN’s “The Lead” that the GOP nominee’s charitable foundation is also under scrutiny.

“My interest in this issue really is in my capacity as regulator of non-profits in New York state. And we have been concerned that the Trump Foundation may have engaged in some impropriety from that point of view,” Schneiderman told host Jake Tapper. “And we’ve inquired into it and we’ve had correspondence with them. I didn’t make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference. We have been looking into the Trump Foundation to make sure it's complying with the laws governing charities in New York.”

MUSLIM CONGRESS STAFFERS IN HACKING CASE TOOK $100K FROM IRAN-LINKED FUGITIVE

As discussed yesterday, the story of the Muslim brothers working as IT staffers in Congress who have been accused of inappropriate access has taken quite a turn. Luke Rosiak continues to stay on it.

Yesterday he revealed that the Pakistani brothers had taken a $100K loan from a mysterious Dr. Ali Attar. Now he has information on just who Ali Attar might be.

Imran Awan and four of his relatives were employed as information technology (IT) aides by dozens of House Democrats, including members of the intelligence, foreign affairs and homeland security committees. The aides’ administrator-level IT access was terminated earlier this month amid a criminal probe by U.S. Capitol Police of a suspected security breach, including an off-site server housing congressional data.

The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has reported that while working for Congress, the Pakistani brothers controlled a limited liability corporation called Cars International A (CIA), a car dealership with odd finances, which took–and was unable to repay–a $100,000 loan from Dr. Ali Al-Attar.

Attar had lived in this country and practiced the traditional trade of Medicare and Medicaid fraud (since he had a medical degree, he didn't need to smuggle cigarettes or trade food stamps for lottery tickets), was raided by the FBI, indicted by the IRS, wanted by the courts and fled to Iraq.

...

We have a serious problem here.
