Jon Hall has a nice article about reining in presidential power. He cites pardons as a good reason for reining in presidential power:

One of the places where presidential power could be curbed is the pardon. America has an entire branch of government devoted to ascertaining guilt and innocence, and the determinations of such are the result of the collective wisdom of judges and juries. To have those decisions and the entire judicial process nullified by any one person is too much, especially if that person is not above using power for purely political purposes, or whose judgment has been shown by recent events to be sorely under par. Even before Obama, the power of the pardon was abused, as in the case of the FALN terrorists pardoned by Clinton.

Few Americans will disagree with Hall’s take especially if you include Clinton granting pardons for money rather than sub-par judgement:

As deputy AG, Holder was in charge of advising the president on the merits of various petitions for pardon. Jack Quinn, a lawyer for Rich, approached Holder about clemency for his client. Quinn was a confidant of Al Gore, then a candidate for president; Holder had ambitions of being named attorney general in a Gore administration. A report from the House Committee on Government Reform on the Rich debacle later concluded that Holder must have decided that cooperating in the Rich matter could pay dividends later on.

XXXXX

Since then, Bill Clinton hasn’t stopped apologizing for the pardons of Marc Rich and Pincus Green. “It was terrible politics. It wasn't worth the damage to my reputation,” he told Newsweek in 2002—and, indeed, speculation was rampant that Rich (and his ex-wife) had bought the pardon by, in part, donating $450,000 to Clinton’s presidential library. Clinton denied that the donations had anything to do with the pardon, instead claiming that he took Holder’s advice on the matter. Holder, for his part, has distanced himself from the pardons as well. As the House Government Reform Committee report put it, he claimed that his support for the pardon “was the result of poor judgment, initially not recognizing the seriousness of the Rich case, and then, by the time that he recognized that the pardon was being considered, being distracted by other matters.”

How Eric Holder Facilitated the Most Unjust Presidential Pardon in American History

Marc Rich, presidential pardon: How Eric Holder facilitated the most unjust presidential pardon in American history.

In the normal course of political evolution paying for a pardon will become the only criterion for absolution —— much like paying a priest for a ticket to heaven.

NOTE: Clinton’s apologies for the Mark Rich pardon do not change the fact that criminals and presidential bank accounts are the only beneficiaries of presidential pardons.

The unpardonable sin

Micheal New refused to serve the United Nations. I doubt if he could buy a pardon for any price.

Feb. 6, 1996 note: Michael New has been dishonorably discharged in a trial that lasted about 15 minutes. An appeal is planned.

Michael New: A Patriot Court Martialed for Obeying His Oath of Duty

The Court Martial of Michael New

The most vicious enemy combatants have a better chance of being pardoned than does Michael New:

Another area where presidential power should be checked came to light in the recent prisoner swap of five top Taliban commanders for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. This was a monumentally bad decision; it exposes Americans abroad and at home to more depredations by radical Islamists; it’s akin to “moral hazard.” But the president has the power to do it. I say he alone shouldn’t have that power.

Articles: Restoring Constitutional Government

If anybody is serious about reining in president power it can be done simply by prosecuting Taqiyya the Liar for violating the federal statute Judge Napolitano references in this video.

Criminal prosecution ain’t going to happen because the entire propaganda apparatus is out to protect presidential power. All of the pontificating about restoring the balance of power, impeaching Taqiyya, John Boehner’s lawsuit and so on is just so much media hot air.

Even the High Court’s unanimous decisions that went against Taqiyya make Nine lawyers look like they are on the ball more than they are trying to rein in presidential power:

Not one of those 12 decisions will rein in a president who is so full of hatred for this country he will do everything he can do to tear it down —— well-knowing that nothing will be done to him. In fact, he is exactly the same as every other fanatic that ever lived. He longs to die for his cause, and he has no fear of being removed so long as he can continue destroying the country up until the day he is perp-walked out of the White House. Indeed, everything Taqiyya is doing would make Lady Macbeth smile:

Macbeth Act V, Scene 1

Lady Macbeth: What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?

Nobody can do the things Taqiyya the Liar is doing without a lot of help. Remember that Hitler was not the only Nazi in Germany. Taqiyya picked his loyalists as carefully as Hitler chose his in the early days. One can even argue that German fascists were waiting for their messiah, and America-haters were waiting for the right leader to come along. Taqiyya did not disappoint them.

Finally, Germany, governed by the Junkers, was the most civilised country in the world before WWI. You can blame the Treaty of Versailles and all of the rest of it for making Hitler possible, but the truth can be found in the fact that the German people were the most educated people in the world before Hitler came to power.

My point: Uneducated brutes did not have the organizational skills necessary to make WWII the horror it was; it took an educated population to do it. Think about that in relation to the importance Taqiyya’s America-haters place on higher education. It seems to me that not subsidizing higher education along with shutting down the Department of Education will result in a positive long-term impact on reining in presidential power rather going after Taqiyya the Liar’s abuses only.

My observation is supported by the people Taqiyya selected for his cabinet and to run his bureaucracies.

More to the point, not a one of Taqiyya’s loyalists will leave when he goes, nor will they be punished for anything they did. (Damn few Nazis were punished after WWII ended.) Taqiyya’s loyalists might lose their government positions for a time —— the top ones will hideout in academia, the media, and multinational corporations —— but they will all be back in government with or without another messiah as soon as everything cools off.

Think about out-of-power America-haters in relation to one of Hollywood’s favorite plots: Organizations run by ex-Nazis secretly plotting a return to power.

In the normal course of political evolution paying for a pardon will become the only criterion for absolution —— much like paying a priest for a ticket to heaven.

Everyone must pay, even if it's through a lawyer to get a pardon...

Cruz has many of the characteristics that identify the American fascist.

To Moonglow: You’re fighting the problem. A minute portion of the population can pay the going rate. The rest will not try.

Without money, a group offering a bloc of votes for a pardon is the only other hope. Few Americans will ever qualify for a political pardon.

Cruz has many of the characteristics that identify the American fascist.

To JakeStarkey: Ted Cruz’s well-known positions prove otherwise.

One can even argue that German fascists were waiting for their messiah, and America-haters were waiting for the right leader to come along. Taqiyya did not disappoint them.

Or are you saying that Ted Cruz is an America-hater? If so, why not say the same about every conservative? As dumb as you are, I don’t think you will try to make that case.

Texas is not the only state with a problem:

AUSTIN, Texas--Two highly placed sources say University of Texas president Bill Powers has been given a choice: resign by the end of the day July 4, or be fired next week. The order comes as a whistleblower has allegedly stepped forward with information tying Powers directly to a growing admissions scandal.
Admission policies cum affirmative action has been a national disgrace from the start. I cannot prove it but I’m sure the Department of Education has its greasy fingerprints all over admission policy in every college and university in the country. There are 4,599:

As of 2011, the latest figures available in 2014, the US has a total of 4,599 Title IV-eligible, degree-granting institutions: 2,870 4-year institutions and 1,729 2-year institutions.

NOTE: Institutions of “HIGHER LEARNING” rake in 40 BILLION FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS annually for research and development projects alone. God only knows how high that number will go to if the environmental parasites get their snouts in the education trough. And that’s not counting the subsidies private companies will get, or the money Wall Street hustlers will shake loose in stock scams like Cold Fusion.

You’d have to be an idiot to believe that Socialists are only trying to give everybody a good education. It all comes down to the curricula the ED dictates in order to get those federal tax dollars:

Finally, Germany, governed by the Junkers, was the most civilised country in the world before WWI. You can blame the Treaty of Versailles and all of the rest of it for making Hitler possible, but the truth can be found in the fact that the German people were the most educated people in the world before Hitler came to power.

Parenthetically, Governor Rick Perry always stands up for the right side of important issues. He’s terrific on the illegal alien problem in a state with a large Latino population. Now he is on the right side of the University of Texas scandal:

Those allegations have been at the center of an unprecedented impeachment effort -- with lawmakers trying to silence the regent who first brought the problems to light. UT Regent Wallace Hall, an appointee of Gov. Rick Perry, has been under fire from Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Speaker Straus and other lawmakers friendly with Powers. They are upset that he has been conducting an investigation into legislative clout being used to sway the admissions process and other issues with UT's governance.

XXXXX

Straus’ hand-picked committee, co-chaired by his allies Dan Flynn (R-Van) and Carol Alverado (D-Houston), spent the last six months investigating Hall rather than the financial and operational abuses he uncovered. Flynn, Alverado and their committee voted last month to proceed with developing impeachment charges, saying only that Hall should not have been investigating the issues as doggedly as he had been.

Perry has stood by Hall, saying the regent "should be commended," not impeached, for "asking tough questions, gathering facts and searching for the truth."

Oh look hitler was a cracker goyim just like you :eusa_whistle:

Hitler was baptized as Roman Catholic during infancy in Austria.

As Hitler approached boyhood he attended a monastery school. (On his way to school young Adolf daily observed a stone arch which was carved with the monastery’s coat of arms bearing a swastika.)

Hitler was a communicant and an altar boy in the Catholic Church.

As a young man he was confirmed as a “soldier of Christ.” His most ardent goal at the time was to become a priest. Hitler writes of his love for the church and clergy: “I had excellent opportunity to intoxicate myself with the solemn splendor of the brilliant church festivals. As was only natural, the abbot seemed to me, as the village priest had once seemed to my father, the highest and most desirable ideal.” -Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf)

Hitler was NEVER excommunicated nor condemned by his church. Matter of fact the Church felt he was JUST and “avenging for God” in attacking the Jews for they deemed the Semites the killers of Jesus.

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

The Government, being resolved to undertake the political and moral purification of our public life, are creating and securing the conditions necessary for a really profound revival of religious life.... The National Government regard the two Christian Confessions as the weightiest factors for the maintenance of our nationality. They will respect the agreements concluded between them and the federal States. Their rights are not to be infringed.... It will be the Government's care to maintain honest co-operation between Church and State; the struggle against materialistic views and for a real national community is just as much in the interest of the German nation as in that of the welfare of our Christian faith. The Government of the Reich, who regard Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation, attach the greatest value to friendly relations with the Holy See and are endeavouring to develop them.

The Right winger get their ideas and talking point on public education

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ...we need believing people."

- Adolf Hitler, April 26, 1933, speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordant

"Universal education is the most corroding and disintegrating poison that liberalism has ever invented for its own destruction."

Adolf Hitler

Ask yourself how Hitler engaged in the Holocaust in an allegedly free society while the "whole world was watching" during the 30's? The free media in Germany turned into a propaganda arm of the Nazi regime and the rest of the world (including FDR) wasn't paying attention. When the media becomes an arm of the administration any atrocity or affront to the Constitution is possible. Isn't it similar to what we have today?

It's been done before and it doesn't lead to outcomes in keeping with our founding principles, that's for sure.

FDR and Churchill warned about Hitler eary on; American isolationists fought to keep the US out, until Pearl Harbor.

FDR had to fight not only the openly pro Nazi sympathizsrs like Pound and Coughlin, he was forced to deal with short sighted isolationists, why FDR always ranks among the greatest US Presidents is evidenced by this:

The U.S. Congress responded by passing the Neutrality Acts, a series of laws banning arms sales and loans to countries at war, in the hope that this would remove any potential reason that the United States might have for entering a European conflict.

When in 1939 war did break out between Germany on the one hand, and Britain and France on the other, President Franklin D. Roosevelt dutifully invoked the Neutrality Acts. However, he believed that this was a fundamentally different war from World War I. Germany, he believed (and most Americans agreed with him) was in this case a clear aggressor. Roosevelt therefore sought to provide assistance for the Allies, while still keeping the United States out of the war. He began by asking Congress to amend the neutrality laws to allow arms sales to the Allies. Later on, after German forces overran France, the president asked Congress for a massive program of direct military aid to Great Britain—an initiative that Roosevelt dubbed "Lend-Lease." In both cases the legislature agreed to FDR's proposals, but only after intense debate.

The question of how involved the United States should become in the European war deeply divided the country. On the one hand, Roosevelt and the so-called "internationalists" claimed that a program of aid to Great Britain and other countries fighting against Germany would make actual U.S. participation in the war unnecessary. On the other side stood those who were called "isolationists," who believed that the president's policies were making it increasingly likely that the country would end up in another disastrous foreign war. This debate was still raging when Japanese aircraft attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. At this point it was clear that, like it or not, the United States would be a full participant in the Second World War.

FDR and Churchill warned about Hitler eary on;

To Peach: Had they warned about Stalin and Communism the world be a better place today. And let’s not forget that Churchill had his own agenda; an agenda that was not always best for Americans.

The 1930s can only be understood when Communism and Fascism are seen as equal threats to America. Even before Pearl Harbor the Left was busy convincing Americans that Communism was good because Fascism was so bad. That false belief is more effective today than it was before WWII.

American isolationists fought to keep the US out,

To Peach: Isolationist and isolationism are Socialist terms. Refusing to fight wars when there is no threat to America is not isolationism. Notice that in order to discredit Americans minding their own business the Left cites philosophical threats when there is no military threat. Conversely, American Communists will never fight against Communism even when the military threat is real.

Parenthetically, two centuries before Socialists made isolationism a dirty word T.J. shot their definition right in the ass:

Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none. Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

isolationism (noun)

A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.

isolationist (noun)

Interestingly, Democrats see territorial sovereignty as isolationism, while open-borders is supposed to show the world the joys of collectivism.

In the same vein, Socialists smugly condemned colonialism which just happens to be the very opposite of isolationism, yet New World Order colonialism is somehow commendable.

In fact, the Internet, rapid communications, rapid travel, tourism, financial markets, and legal immigration killed isolationism as it was understood in the 1930s, yet the do-gooders still trot out Smoot-Hawley whenever anybody opposes the American military fighting touchy-feely wars.

And, of course, withdrawing from the United Nations is the worst form of isolationism to the global government crowd.

until Pearl Harbor.

To Peach: I never could buy the Pearl Harbor Conspiracy Theory. Nevertheless, American Communists did everything they could do to manipulate the US into saving Communism after Hitler invaded the Soviet Union six months before Pearl Harbor. In short: Japan attacking Pearl Harbor saved Communism and made possible all of the horrors Communists rained down on the world since WWII ended.

FDR had to fight not only the openly pro Nazi sympathizsrs like Pound and Coughlin, he was forced to deal with short sighted isolationists, why FDR always ranks among the greatest US Presidents is evidenced by this:

To Peach: Your basic facts are correct. Your interpretation of those facts leaves a lot to desired. I will only say that most Americans agreed with then-Senator Harry Truman in 1941:

If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible, although I don't want to see Hitler victorious under any circumstances. Neither of them thinks anything of their pledged word. Harry Truman
