Byron Crawford (who is known as an insanely outragous blogger on all matters relating to hip-hop & R&B music, as well as cultural issues with blacks) has been on a roll lately with posts about the immigration debacle as he sees it. This one is something i heard over and over again while I was in the States two weeks ago, from blacks especially, who are sick and tired of the illegal immigrants trying to hijack American history to cover their purposes.

Hispanics trivialize the civil rights movement

In addition to the fact that illegal immigrants and their supporters are quick to call black people racist, the black community should be concerned that they are trivializing the civil rights movement by trying to compare it to the movement to grant amnesty to criminals who enter this country illegaly.

For years, not only were black people - legal citizens of this country - denied the right to vote, but occasionally they'd even be beaten to a bloody pulp, tied to some random household appliance, and tossed in the river for having the sheer balls to whistle at a woman. And who can resist the urge to occasionally whistle at a white woman? Have you seen that show "8th & Ocean?"

Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ.

The movement to grant amnesty to criminals who illegally enter this country, drive down wages, and drive black people out of their own neighborhoods is in no way comparable to the fight to gain equal rights for black people, at least a few of whom never committed a crime against anyone. And yet, illegal immigrants and their supporters have the sheer balls to compare their movement to the civil rights movement.

Newsflash, d-bags: Mexicans already have the right to vote. In Mexico. You can't break into another person's country and then complain about being treated the same as actual citizens. Your movement in no way compares to the fight for equal rights for black legal citizens of the US, so stop trying to compare that shit.
