Read the laws on classified docs.
They are all presidential executive orders, 13526.
They all say presidents are the arbitrary source of all classified doc authority, and they can do what ever they want with classified docs.
Traditionally the goal of classified docs is so presidents can give permanent copies to whomever they want, like allies, labs, ambassadors, generals, etc.
But clearly it is legal for presidents to give themselves permanent copies as well.

Senators have no security clearance to look at classified docs at all, much less have possession of them.
Presidents can do whatever they want with their copies, including shred them.
NARA is lying if they claim they had to "piece them back together", because Trump's copies were irrelevant, and NARA could get additional new copies whenever they wanted.

The audio recording comes from a July 2021 interview Trump gave at his Bedminster resort for people working on the memoir of Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff. The special counsel’s indictment alleges that those in attendance – a writer, publisher and two of Trump’s staff members – were shown classified information about the plan of attack on Iran.

The episode is one of two referenced in the indictment where prosecutors allege that Trump showed classified information to others who did not have security clearances.

Trump’s statements on the audio recording, saying “these are the papers” and referring to something he calls “highly confidential” and seems to be showing others in the room, could undercut the former president’s claims in an interview last week with Fox News’ Bret Baier that he did not have any documents with him.

is probably the current defining authorization for anything classified.

Sec. 1.3. Classification Authority. (a) The authority to classify information originally may be exercised only by:

(1) the President and the Vice President;

it can be presumed that they inherently can see any type of classified documents which makes sense and both can really do anything with classified documents.



Yes once Biden becomes a citizen then he should no longer have the ability to see classified documents unless the current president gives him the right.
