Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) and Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) have teamed with actress Geena Davis and the Girl Scouts of America to introduce and promote the Healthy Media for Youth Act, a bill to facilitate research on how the media affects women, create a grant program for youth empowerment groups and establish a National Taskforce on Women and Girls in the Media to set standards ”that promote healthy, balanced, and positive images of girls and women

Government to the rescue: Saving young women from low self body image « Hot Air

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Can we afford this right now? Will it lead to media censorship? Comments?

While I agree the media promotes unhealthy views of women's body image, this is not something the government should be funding. The government is already over-burdened attempting to accommodate special interests. Kay, Tammy and Geena should pool their own resources to fund this personal agenda.

It's not just the Media is a big part of the problem. Censoring the media is just like sticking your finger in the dike and praying.
