Head of US Strategic Command says he would reject order from Trump to nuke if it was "illegal"

maybe he is looking to retire . Being retired by The TRUMP would probably look good on his resume if he wants to work for the next lefty .

Hyten also once said "he is concerned about what North Korea would do after it has mastered the ability to mount an ICBM with a nuclear weapon, adding that if he is appointed to the top position at the U.S. Strategic Command he would make North Korea’s nuclear provocations a priority."

He also said “At a time when our adversaries have significantly modernized and continued to upgrade their nuclear forces, nearly all elements of the nuclear triad are operating beyond their designed service life.”

No uniformed officer should EVER discuss our nuclear policy, favorable or otherwise! It is purely the purview of the president to decide our nuclear strategy, and any other voices on the matter ON FOREIGN SOIL make us look weak. Fire General Hyten now

i have never seen a US president treated with such disrespect as Donald J Trump!

That has always been the case with the military. They are not obligated to follow illegal orders.

Of course, such a refusal could end with a bullet to the head and replacement by the next in line. Better be sure.

Only officers. Enlisted personnel have no choice and must follow an order to the letter.

Hyten sounds like a thinking flag officer.

Maybe he and the other flag officers can arrest Trump for dereliction of duty.

"These articles require the obedience of LAWFUL orders. An order which is unlawful not only does not need to be obeyed but obeying such an order can result in criminal prosecution of the one who obeys it. Military courts have long held that military members are accountable for their actions even while following orders -- if the order was illegal."

Here's What to Know About Obeying an Unlawful Military Order

This is from CBS, how much of it is actually true. It's suspicious that this purported General does not know the protocol for launching a nuclear strike. In fact, it's downright disturbing. So disturbing that it might have hatched, fully formed, from one of CBS's eggs.
Launching the U.S. arsenal requires eight steps, according to Blair, a research scholar at Princeton University's program on science and global security and founder of nonproliferation advocacy group Global Zero.

The video above explains the protocols, but basically the president first talks to advisors such as the Omaha-based four-star general at the helm of the U.S. Strategic Command. The president's conclusion is then carried out through a series of codes and encrypted messages that travel through the Pentagon to the land- or sea-based launch sites, where control officers simultaneously turn their security keys to initiate the launch.

This is the process the US uses to authorize a nuclear strike

The head of the Strategic Air Command doesn't know this? He thinks it's HIS decision. That's scary. I hope it's not true. I hope CBS just got their lies bollixed up once again.

Lawful orders according to the UCMJ. However enlisted personal live in a grey area where it's not their call whether or not an ambiguous law is being broken. Even then, they can be held responsible if they follow an illegal order given to them by an officer. Their oath swears allegiance to the orders of the President of the United States and their commanding officers, while the officer's oath only mentions to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Indeed, that's why they better be sure either way in such a decision, because it is a Catch-22 situation. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

How has he risen to this position if he can’t/won’t follow orders. Failure to obey orders, Court Martial! He needs to go, NOW!
