They were inside Israel, but and pulling a kidnap for exchange is far more complicated, the teens was murdered right away.

The only reason they carried the bleeding to death teens in the car was to toss them in the prepared grave they made earlier, that was the only reason they didn't just shot them and drove away when they might be spotted and once there are bodies investigations are made instantly [homicide], about missing people it takes time before the police attention focus on the event.
Foiled kidnapping means there was an intelligence, leading to arrests in most cases, where suspects are being investigated as well, or just die trying and later on analysts or even the terrorist organization leaks the information, it is very complicated matter because most of this is usually classified, but based on the previous events it is possible that the terrorists would've ask for something for the location of the bodies, but unlikely when they are inside Israel soil.
