I think it may be happening. The real test will come in the fall if Gingrich or a more traditional conservative enters the race and can raise $$$. It would be interesting to be in a 'practical party' for a change. The Democrats have always been more focused on 'winning' than idiology, while the GOP candidates have focused on the platform issues, while campaigning. Yet once in office, both have to move to the middle to get anything done. I'd say this 'comprise' if indeed that is what we are observing here, can be laid at the feet of the current administration, that fought a war that was needed, though not articulating the rationale or fighting effectively since the fall of Saddam. Couple that with the spending, immigration, and other domestic policies and the door opens for Guiliani:

Well right now, he's the best I see. Romney spooks me, but that has nothing to do with his faith.

Newt Gingrich...! The human muppet!...Oh pulleez!

Let's see, married two mistresses...Served his first wife divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery...Refused to pay her alimony OR child support. Gotta love those 'traditional', bedrock, conservative family values.

Giuliani is little better, having announced, at a press conference, that his marriage to his second wife was 'over' so he could go and marry his mistress. Odd thing was, his wife didn't know anything was up until the press conference. He had his marriage to his first wife, who also happened to be his second cousin, annulled by the Catholic church after fourteen years of marriage.

Yesirree bob, ya gotta love traditional, family values!

When it comes to presidents; philanderers, and not so decent human beings, vs. those that are strait and moral; the jury's out on which make better presidents.
