Interesting piece on 60 minutes tonight on Grover Norquist and Americans for Tax Reform. The pledge that all Republicans sign not only forbids them to oppose any tax increase but also to elimiate any deduction.

So basically a Republican corporate lobbyist can work to insert a tax break into a bill and then once in place Grover's organization will insure the break remains law. They do this via a non-profit funded by these same corporations with no disclosure.

The group accomplishes their goal via the intimidation of a primary challange heavily funded by Norquists group. These keeps Republican's in line. Since so many districts have been gerry mandered to be Republican only and the Senate can stop anything unless you have 60 votes these days it is plenty to keep the Corporate Welfare in place.

So if you are voting for a Republican who has signed the pledge you are basically voting for the Corporations to control this country. A fews brave Republicans have told Norquist to go to hell but they are few and far between.

I saw that piece, it is fascinating that his only position is one that in most circumstances in life would amount to a failure of vision. At some point there is a time when we bend and modify our ideas about debt and spending. Imagine if FDR had this nitwit to contend with when rebuilding America and preparing for war? Or Reagan who spent like crazy for defense. But Reagan did raise taxes over and over again as did FDR. But GREED occupies the background of Grover's support and you know what that holy book no one follows says. ;)

LOL First you dont have a damn clue about the gerrymandering, that much was painfully obvious.

Corporations do not own the government, but is it fair to say Big banks own the democrats. Why yes we can, which party insisted the crooks get large BONUSES?

Sorry but now you need a new rant.

Not an entirely unfair complaint.

Now if you'll just shake off those blinders about the GOP, the truth shall set you free, FA.

Of course, you'll have to WANT to be free, first.

Think long and hard before you do that because the cost to you personally of thinking for yourself can be very VERY high.

I've seen very little evidence that it's a price you personally are prepared to pay.

Thats just it, no blinders as I havent voted for the gop since 2004. No stones.... But now hope has been renewed with the tea party. Which by democrat definition makes me a terrorist.

The Pledge: Grover Norquist's hold on the GOP - 60 Minutes - CBS News

First off, I have to admit that I broke my own pledge. That was to never again watch any 60 Minutes segment because I think they exist as a Democrat Party hack service.

This segment confirms that.

Steve Croft spends much of his time saying that Grover Norquist tells the Republicans what to do and Grover keeps saying no, it's taxpayers that are telling them what to do. This goes on and on.

Interesting part where Alan Simpson is interviewed and expresses dislike for "Norquist Babe". What is not mentioned is that the Economic Council that Alan Simpson was on submitted a report that was IGNORED by the very same President who set it up: Barack Obama.

A large number of Congressmen signed a "No Tax" pledge and now that some of them want to weasel out of it, Grover Norquist wants to hold their feet to the fire and rightly so. Steve Croft and 60 Minutes thinks this is interference with Gov't duties. Of course that's bullshit.

So tell me what you think I don't know about gerrymandering. A majority of our congressional districts are in effect one party districts.
