Strange as it may seems, city tax assessment has exactly NOTHING to do with sale value. Just have a look at the tax assessment for your home, and then look at current market value. They are vastly different, and it's perfectly normal.
As an example, I bought a town house 3 BR, 1 Bath, finish basement 1 car garage aprox 1,700 in 1967 for $17,900. . City tax assessors valued the home $10,000. It recently sold for $645,000. Tax assessment is $37,000. Go figure.

It's amazing how ignorant people wish to remain. It's noted over and over and over and over and over that what Trump did was claim his apt was 30,000 feet when it was actually 11,000 feet.

Now think how upset you would have been if you bought a 1700 sq feet home only to find out it was 600 square feet.
