They aren't in the same 'company'. Those other countries oppose it for completely different and nefarious reasons. The NRA may be the loudest, most public voice regarding the 2nd amendment, but the NRA only represents about 10% of all gun owners. Anti-gun folks keep squawking about the NRA when they only represent a small portion of gun owners, many of whom don't have as extreme views as the NRA but still don't want their 2nd amendment rights trampled by scare tactics and laws that will do nothing to curb violence and crazy people from flipping out and going on rampages.

I know a few Democrats who are gun owners and think most of these proposed gun laws are unconstituional. Some changes some sense, some are a waste of time proposed by people who know little to nothing about guns.
