WASHINGTON — The committee chairman leading Congress' Benghazi investigation is insisting his probe is about the facts, not the politics, of the terrorist siege that killed four Americans. He wants fellow Republicans who feel otherwise to "shut up" ahead of Hillary Rodham Clinton's testimony on Thursday.

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy is telling CBS's "Face the Nation" that he's primarily interested in Clinton's account of the attacks because she was secretary of state at the time. That she's the leading Democratic candidate for president, he says, is of no interest.

That's the opposite of what two Republican members of Congress have said. A former staffer for Gowdy's committee has also said the probe is primarily political.

Gowdy says those critics are uninformed.​

That's the opposite of what two Republican members of Congress have said. A former staffer for Gowdy's committee has also said the probe is primarily political.

Gowdy says those critics are uninformed.​

They are doubling down on the fake Ben Gassy thing because its all they have. Lying is all the Republicans have now, their world view and policies do not win elections so they fall back to the only thing they have left, the lie. And even when caught in the lie they don't admit it and continue to tell the lie. Their base of course are like jackals who are ravenous for lies so they will believe anything. But the rest of the country knows what the Republicans are doing, especially since the Republicans themselves have admitted they are using Ben Gassy as a political hammer to harm Hillary Clinton's presidential run.

Conservatives are at the bottom of the barrel. Lying has become routine for them.

Clinton and all of her subordinates have been asked to testify. The most recent one wasn't even there when everything happened.

On something bi partisan, you would think the head of the CIA or other high ranking individuals would be called, supposedly because they have access to intelligence or investigation results.

Just the fact that only Clinton's subordinates have been called proves Republicans aren't interested at any truth. They only want some kind of smear. That's what they are looking for. They found Bill's blowjob, they are hoping for similar suckcess with Hillary.

The death of a U.S. Ambassador (and two former Navy Seals) happened on Hillary's watch and it seems that she called in sick and blamed an obscure you tube video for the coordinated terrorist attack. Benghazi trumps (pardon the pun) investigations into the cover up of a 3rd rate burglary during the Nixon administration (Watergate) and the (Illegal?) funding of anti-communists in Central America (Iran-Contra). How could lefties be against the legitimate congressional inquiry into the death of a U.S. Ambassador when they thought it was so important to find out whether Reagan funded anti-communists in Central America? How about the democrat senate spending millions in a high profile hearing about steroid use in Baseball and finally indicting a single Hall of Fame pitcher for allegedly lying?
