"...In an e-mail message sent to rank-and-file workers, the union also repeated its opposition to GM's plans to close 16 U.S. manufacturing plants and cut about 21,000 jobs while also planning to increase vehicle imports from GM plants in lower-wage economies such as Mexico, South Korea and China..."

Back again, ratty? ;)

Hell, it's simply a matter of establishing full workers' ownership and democratic management of GM on a decentralized level through individual workplaces, cooperatives, and such. As I've been saying as of late, it would take nothing more than boring old nationalization to ensure improved economic efficiency.

workers' ownership? Are you a full blown communist? just asking.

Yes, an anarcho-communist, as it were. That said, the establishment of workers' ownership in a market socialist economy, for instance, would facilitate more competitive market enterprise than capitalism would, given the latter's tendency toward market concentration. A mere component in the superior efficiency of worker-owned enterprises and labor cooperatives to the conventional capitalist firm.
