George Washington in his farewell address after his last term as President of the United States warned the American people about forming political parties, “It [political parties] serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”

So we finally see what the two major political parties have brought us to one of the lowest points in our history.

When will you people see that the 2 party system is the cause of all of our problems and not the solution?

I don't think four years will be quite enough.

Along about 4.5 years when the regime, emboldened by what they got away in 4, twist the screws sufficiently further that change begins. I've always liked the passive-aggressive approach (Atlas Shrugged). But a remote hideaway for the thinkers and doers within the borders of the former USA is unrealistic. What it's going to take is one of about 3 multi-billionaires to get fed up and buy a country to be a base. It's a plan you liberals can get behind. After all, you love it when unions call strikes; down tools and nothing gets built or manufactured.
