Gay Marriage Activist Shoots Up Family Research Council

And why is that, you fucking psycho? The people willing to commit atrocities aren't that common. Is that a little wishful thinking on your part?

This is in the wrong topic to begin with, "Law & Justice" is the proper section. And if the shooter IS gay, that means,........gay Americans commit crimes also*

*As do fat, thin, tall, short, blue eyed, brown eyed, etc. AND WHY IN THE HECK DOES SEXUAL ORIANTATION MATTER IN THIS TYPE OF CRIME? That is as relevant as the shooter's favorite vegatables.

question , if he did indeed say he was upset or that is criticizing the council's work, had chik-fil items on him, what do you think his motivation and political predilection is?

His politics are mostly likely a thin veneer of 'belief', around which the misanthropy can develop. Like McVeigh.

I notice you normally don't chastise the left when they make claims every shooter is a right wing loon or a member of the Tea Party.

Not to rain on your parade...but where is the evidence that the shooter was a gay activist?

Same place all your sides evidence is that when ever a shooting occurs it was a Tea Party member?

The question begs to be asked though? Since the left has claimed this organization are terrorists who incited whom ever to do the shooting?

I have never accused a shooter of being a Tea Party activist before facts are in. I guess that makes me better than the OP....that wasn't hard.

Yet your side makes that claim after every shooting. And I don't see you in those threads saying they are wrong. Selective outrage?

The once venerable A.P. (associated press) chose not to report the shooting on the on-line Yahoo site that we get whether we like it or not included with yahoo mail. Instead we get a headline "Caterer at Obama event wears Romney T-shirt". I rest my case about the agenda of the left wing media.

So we have another fruitloop with a legal gun shooting up people for really no reason at all. And you want to make this a right or left discussion?

It is illegal to carry a firearm in Washington DC. It is still pretty damn hard to even get one in the city. But then if you knew the law you would know that. Did those laws help in this case?

By the way the Population of the US is well over 300 million, you would deny a right because of a few thousand people break the law? I don't recall you complaining about all the murders in Chicago by Black gang members. Or LA or Washington DC or New York. Or well anywhere. All of those locations make it nearly illegal to possess firearms.

And yes most crime is committed with illegally obtained weapons. Not legally purchased. Remind us how gun control would effect a criminal from getting a gun.....

The guy shot a security guard in the arm and then surrendered. TYhe only reason it is news is because he was a gay advocate and he shot up a terrorist christian organization. What about all the other gun violence in DC? It is not like shootings are uncommon in every big city every day.

Bullshit. The guns used in the Aurora shooting were obtained legally.

Strange, you don't usually give right wing killers the benefit of the doubt. Does the fact that he volunteered at an LGBT center upset your world view?

The guy was trying to get into a right wing advocacy center, not a theater. That makes this a political discussion.

I have owned guns, and still do, both long guns and handguns, since I was 12. There are certain types of weopons that should not be freely available, guns good only for shooting large amounts of people quickly. And we should have more stringent laws concerning who can buy a gun. All too many clearly psychotic people have legal access to lethal weopons that can kill en masse.

OK. I get it. So, now, you are clearly someone like Tim McViegh, because you too are a far right person. See how that works?

He shot a security guard in the arm and was then subdued by the guard he shot. The only reason this is not bigger news is because he was a gay activist shooting up a right wing advocacy group.

Not really. That is probably because my brain actually works, unlike yours.

SPLC Statement on Shooting at Family Research Council
Posted in Hate Crime by Hatewatch Staff on August 15, 2012

We’ve seen news of the shooting of a security guard today at the Family Research Council office in Washington, D.C., and are getting media inquiries about it. There are unconfirmed reports that the shooting was ideologically motivated. We condemn all acts of violence and are following the story closely.

I hate it when people hate hate groups.

The Family Research Council Shooting and "Hate Groups"

8/15/12
By David Weigel

My policy on any shooting:

1) Don't assume any hate group connections or political motivations until we find out more about the witness. You don't want to wind up like Brian Ross.

2) Do keep track of how the shooting's being politicized. I say "how," because it's inevitable, and in some cases it's not all that bad. You won't hear the NRA bemoan the mental health/gun buying law passed after the Virginia Tech shooting.

The reporter to follow for actual facts: Ryan Reilly. The factor to keep track of, if you want to see how conservative media will process this: The Family Research Center's two-year-old designation as a "hate group," issued by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC hasn't responded to the developments in D.C. (I've asked), but I'm already seeing some sputter-and-point reaction blaming them -- or just begging the question of blame -- for what almost happened.
