Currently the consulting company I work for offers fake "benefits". That will change with Obamacare. Do you suppose that consulting companies will negotiate with clients for a 29.5 hour workweek to avoid the mandated $20K health insurance or try to force everyone onto 1099s? The 1099 approach is a concern because the contractor loses the protection from non-payment of wages. I guess unemployment insurance protection can be preserved by the contractor setting up a corporation and paying premiums through their own corporation. Thoughts?
Regarding healthcare, it seems the best approach is to pay the $95 fine and only apply for health insurance if you get sick.
