From what I saw on the news once, China is awash with unemployed engineers. According to another program I was watching, many in the U.S. are now going overseas to get surgeries done for less cost. Which apparently a lot of U.S. insurance companies are in favor of. (So much for the supposed service based economy the U.S. was supposed to be transitioning to) In the poor countries that produce things like doctors and engineers, do you ever wonder why so many people would go through so much schooling for so little payoff?

Well I have a theory. I think it's because the poor in such places really know how to be poor! Look at slums in places like Brazil or India. In the Phillippines, many of the poor even take up residence in graveyards. What the wealthy or highly educated really need to be happy is people lower than them to be superior to. In such countries, they have that in abundance. So the highly educated can get by with less because there are so many who have so much less.

When it comes to this, foreign countries beat us all to hell. The question is if this is what we Americans should have for ourselves. Well that question has already been answered. All we have to do is wait for it to happen. It all really started with this country deciding it was ok to send American jobs overseas. Also, more troubling news depends on who you ask. I have seen websites that tell what the trade deficit is with China alone. One website says it is about 300 billion per year. Another says that it is over 700 billion dollers per year.

On many fronts, I often hear experts say "unsustainable." Some day, the wealthy in the country are going to get their comeuppance. But the problem is that they will have many poor to cushion their fall. Then we can have the same "superiority" as other countries when it comes to the poor. Or you could avoid all this and elect me as dictator.

All they habe to do to make it worth the trouble is better themselves.

Or some of us did schooling part time while working full time. We get less debt in general also.

About foreigners doing it better....some things in America have to be done to 2014 standards ALL the time. In Mexico if you want breast augmentation I don't think it is quite 2014 standards they live up to. Throw in the way it may be less easy to sue them if you come out crippled and sure the cost is lowered.

Toronado3800,
In the countrues I mentioned, with the poor being as poor as they are, it doesn't take much to better themselves. But if you'r an unemployed engineer or a doctor who gets paid with chickens, you have to wonder how worth it such education is.

You then mention working and doing your schooling. You know, there used to be a time when the phrase, "Pulling yourself up by your boot straps" stood for something that was impossible to do. Just imagine living in a society like they have in France. And no doubt other countries. Where you can go to college for free. Then you wouldn't have to beat yourself to a pulp to be something that would benifit society in general.

As for any malpractice issue that might come up from having surgery in another country, it probably wouldn't happen so often as to make it an issue. Also, did you ever see the documentary, "Sicko?" Apparently Michael Moore has some relatives in Canada. Before they come to the U.S. where there is no universal health care, they simply but some temporary insurance to cover them while they're here.

There is no such thing as "go to college for free." Anyone who thinks there is hasn't thought it through or is just a simpleton.

.

The big difference between the US and the rest of the civilised world, is that we look at something and go "how will it benefit society?". Americans (especially conservatives) look at something and say "How will it benefit me?" If they see no benefit for themselves, they are not interested and demand to know why any of their taxpayer dollars are going towards whatever is being mooted. Of course I won't even go into the conservative misnomer that saying "how will it benefit society?" is akin to socialism...

Dr Grump,
Sorry, but you're not making a lot of sense. The U.S and Americans are basically the same thing. So it is unlikely to say, "how will it benifit society" and "how will it benifit me." You then bring up tax dollars. But money is largely a state of mind in this country. The only thing that buoys out monitary system is happy thoughts and fairy dust. It doesn't bother the U.S. to spend trillions of dollars on pointless wars. It doesn't bother the U.S. that it has to pay over four hundred billion dollars each year just on the interest of the national debt. It doesn't bother the U.S. that it goes around a half a trillion dollars deeper into debt (maybe more) each year with China alone. But you talk about raising taxes and the wealthy go ape shit.

his post was perfectly clear. i'm not quite sure what you're trying to say because you seem to be all over the place.

jillian,
The main point of everything is that democracy has gotten us into quite a mess. Democracy isn't going to get us out of it. Only Fascism can do that.

How?
Dr Grump,
It would take a whole book to explain that. Even then, why would I want to do that. At best, some democratic and capitalist scumbag would take my ideas and use them to prop up their diseased and criminal political system. People can either accept me and the Fascist government that would have to exist for at least one hundred years, or they can all go die a blistering, interracial death.

For a fascist dictatorship to work and span a noteworthy chunk of history, the dictator really does need ALL of the answers.

You sure you're ready, Champ?

AVG-JOE,
More than ready. But it isn't likely to happen. Because people prefer liars over those who tell the truth. In part, it is probably a de-evolution thing.
