There isn't one single president since the great depression who hasn't increased the national debt.

We do need to gut the military - tear it down and re-build it into a completely, much more modern and agile military that could take on a country like Russia in a full blown war, and could handle a small-scale guerilla war. Our men and women need to have the latest technology, the best armor, the best intelligence... we need to treat them like a foreign ambassador is treated at the finest new york city restaurants.

I want out military to be the most technologically advanced, but I want to get rid of all these unnecessary military bases. We spend way more than anyone on military and where has it gotten us? Just ask the Chinese(the next superpower), they are winning on INTELLIGENCE, not military numbers.

Furthermore, the only shocking thing would be if Ted Stevens actually won. All the polls prior to the election showed Begich up by a considerable margin. The polls were fairly accurate this general election.
