Just a regular American
Fidel Castro, a thorn in the side of America for 50 years, turns 85 today. When he became leader of Cuba Ike was President. From almost causing the destruction of the planet (Cuban missile crisis) to a possible involvement in JFK's assassination and the exodus of Cubans to the US, Castro has been the boogieman next door. Our infatuation with him has allowed our government to legally allow illegals from Cuba to become citizens automatically upon setting foot on our soil. Even today when his power is substantially diminished we have not normalized relations with Cuba. Why? We trade freely with China and Russia yet a few miles from our shore there is an island that is starving for modern goods. It is past time to open the doors to Cuba, to get rid of the double standards in regards to citizenship, have trade and get the tourism industry going.
