Dominick's, Arthur Ave. Bronx NY
I've been going for about a year and it's an experience. Until about 2 weeks ago there was no menu (they recently posted one in the front window) the seating is school cafeteria style, the food is excellent. I love starting with baked clams and see what I'm in the mood for after that. It can be very crowded, but that's because the food is excellent.
Fuori Porta, Florence, Italy
If you ever get to Florence, you absolutely have to go here. It's on the other side of the Arno down the steps from Michelangelo Plaza. It's a wine bar but the food is Tuscan heaven. I had Asparagus crepes appetizer, (I KNOW! WTF!? Asparagus?) but you cannot believe how totally delicious the chef prepared them! She's a Tuscan genius. The food is so good you'll want to take home the plate as a souvenir.
