This is a mock discussion between two American movie-stars (Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks) and a hypothetical democracy-critic named Ajay (modelled after myself!).

The discussion concerns which U.S. President best embodies all the spirit/values of America.

The purpose of such a discussion would be to link pedestrian political criticism (e.g., Don Imus) with 'magazine-couture' (e.g., Vanity Fair) in this new age of media-gauged theosophy (e.g., Charlie Rose).

Therefore, this discussion was inspired by the relevant films The American President and Wag the Dog.

Also, I wanted to reference some symbolic characters in this post --- before they turn up as new members of yet another media scandal (e.g., Harvey Weinstein).

====

CRUISE: I think my favorite American President was Jefferson...
AJAY: I really like Woodrow Wilson.
HANKS: I've always been partial to John F. Kennedy!

CRUISE: Jefferson gave Washington an air of erudition!
AJAY: Wilson helped establish the League of Nations...
HANKS: Kennedy made politics hip.

CRUISE: Americans like solid leadership (Jefferson).
AJAY: Americans like creative ideas regarding globalization (Wilson).
HANKS: Americans like pedestrian storytelling (Kennedy).

CRUISE: Capitalism is about choreography (Jefferson).
AJAY: Commerce requires teamwork (Wilson).
HANKS: Democracy is an art (Kennedy).

CRUISE: Maybe the media will decide America is 'inventive.'
AJAY: Maybe the media will decide America is 'flexible.'
HANKS: Maybe the media will decide America is 'folkloric.'
