Taxable or Non-Taxable Income? To be "fair", and ensure everyone pays a "fair share" we must first figure out who pays a lot, a little, and none. To be truly, objectively FAIR, we will first start demanding those who pay NOTHING to pay THEIR "fair share". According to the IRS website, those who pay NOTHING include those who get money from: - Those on welfare. Welfare is not taxed. 0% rate, LESS than the rich pay. - Those on workers compensation. Workers Comp is 0% rate. LESS than anyone else. - Compensation from injury lawsuits. Tort winnings are NOT taxed, 0%. So, if you are on welfare, on workers comp, or living off money won from a lawsuit, you pay ZERO DOLLARS in taxes on them. 0%. ZERO PERCENT. That is NOT FAIR. All of us pay taxes on our money. A waitress barely getting by must claim her tips. Cops work off-duty jobs to make ends meet and pay taxes on all earnings. So, FIRST thing first, to make it truly FAIR, we must not just raise, but to just being taxing something at all....on welfare, workers comp and tort winnings. Until that happens, nothing in taxation will be a "fair share". As I'm quite sure there is someone out there who won an injury lawsuit, gets workers comp for it, and because of being unemployed, is drawing welfare, totalling probably a 50K a year income from the 3but paying ZERO in taxes. Welfare queens time to pay up. "Injured" Joes time to pay up. Scumbag ambulance chasers, time to pay up. After all, it's only "fair".
