Facebook uncovers political influence campaign ahead of midterms

Show us on the doll where Putin touched you to make you flip your vote
You think it's ok to let foreign governments influence our elections?
Anyone who could be swayed by a foreign influence should have their vote invalidated if proven.
Have you noticed how much is spent on elections? Yeah, people are influenced.
/-----/ Which ad flipped you to vote for Trump?
The Russian effort looks even less influential when one considers the tiny amount of Russian Facebook spending directed at key battleground states — $1,979 in Wisconsin, $823 in Michigan and $300 in Pennsylvania. From an electoral perspective, the campaign was remarkably unsophisticated.

It's bs.

Shutting down 32 accounts or whatever is like arresting two dudes In Saudi Arabia or Pakistan and saying the worldwide terrorist problem is solved.
By which I meant that it's ridiculous to believe there were only 32 Russian trolls on Facebook.

San Francisco (AFP) - Facebook said Tuesday it shut down more than 30 fake pages and accounts involved in what appeared to be a "coordinated" effort to stoke hot-button social issues ahead of November midterm US elections, but cannot identify the source despite hints Russia was involved.

It said the "bad actor" accounts on the world's biggest social network and its photo-sharing site Instagram could not be tied to Russian actors, who US officials say used the platform to spread disinformation ahead of the 2016 presidential election in the United States.

But the tech giant did say "some of the activity is consistent" with that of the Saint Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency (IRA) -- the Russian troll farm that managed many false Facebook accounts used to influence the 2016 vote.
Sounds like a pre emptive excuse for a Democrat loss in November

Even a broken clock is right every 12 hours. Facebook has most likely ignored the two dozen conservative fake profiles, and have ignored the twenty thousand or so leftist ones, except for this one.

If only they had done something before the presidential election....
You saw an ad on Facebook and flipped your vote to Trump.

Nope, but many obviously did. I don't want foreign countries influencing our elections. You must be some sort of traitor.

You really have no idea how much money the Clintons took from China do you?

I’m sure there are other trill farms as well. Given the state of Facebook right now and the things they have done against all users, this seems a little as a P.R. Campaign. You have to ask why are they just now saying something? It’s too bad Zuckerberg ran such a crappy organization to let this through.

/----/ I think it was wrong for Obozo to interfere in Israel's elections and it was wrong for Ted BELCH Kennedy to ask the USSR to interfere in Reagan's reelection,
But you are ok with Russia damaging our voting rights? Go figure.

Who wasn’t allowed to vote?

Exactly how did any Russians damage your voting rights? Were there two burly Slavic people standing at the doors of your polling place in 2016, threatening to break your legs if you didn't vote for Trump?

Oh wait: Those were Black Panthers who were harassing voters at the polling places in 2012.

Were some Russians hacking into the electronic voting systems, changing your vote from Hillary to Trump? Not very likely, as those systems aren't even connected to the internet.

Maybe there was some ham-fisted guy named Ivan whispering sweet nothings with a vodka-tainted breath into your ear as you filled out your paper ballot? Not very likely. We have poll watchers who look for that kind of thing.

Or did you read some post on an internet discussion board or on Facebook, that persuaded you to vote for Trump instead of Hillary?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this sounds? If you're trying to convince me that some die-hard leftist voting for whatever candidate the Democrat Party is running would suddenly have a change of heart and vote against his or her own party, I would have to say that you're nuts.

The sad truth is, your girl lost. Quit blaming "Russians" and own up to the fact that you people ran a horrible candidate who was out of touch with the people of this country. That is the sole reason Hillary lost.

You might have even elected Bernie Sanders, had not the Hillary campaign screwed him out of the nomination. You have nobody but yourselves to blame.

Several Clintonista campaigners went to prison for funneling money to the Clintons. The DNC had to pay back millions as well.

Among the Clinton fundraisers and friends who pleaded guilty were John Huang, Charlie Trie, James Riady, and Michael Brown, son of the late Clinton Commerce secretary Ron Brown. But many questions went unanswered, even after the revelations that Clinton had personally authorized offering donors Oval Office meetings and use of the Lincoln bedroom. A total of 120 participants in the fundraising scandal either fled the country, asserted their Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination, or otherwise avoided questioning. The stonewalling worked — and probably encouraged Hillary Clinton in her own cover-up of her private e-mail server and her ties with the Clinton Foundation.

They were clearly influencing the votes of US citizens. Are you really this stupid? You think putin picking our leaders is good for the US?

The people who are influenced by propaganda shouldn't be voting in the first place. Apparently you are ignorant of Radio Free Europe attempts to influence political thought in the Warsaw Pact states? Or, the influence that the Communist Party, USA, had on our political thought in the forties and fifties.
