DOD secretary announcing all jobs open to women in the military

After 130 deaths and 800 wounded in the last decade, military women have earned the right to compete for combat arms jobs.

Good on them.

Had a young friend, a female medic. She traveled 130 miles six times a week down through cowboy country from Kabul delivering medical supplies. She had the character to be combat arms. She should have been able to compete for those jobs, if she wanted. She's dead, though, some six years ago on that road doing her job.
