Interestingly, when I was in kindergarten I got in trouble once because we were learning a new letter, the letter I, and when the teacher held up the flash card I blurted out it was an I and "ruined the surprise." Also in kindergarten, when she asked on November 1st what new month was I said Noviembre, which is November in Spanish, which my mother had taught me, and my teacher got annoyed with me.
In first grade, I got in trouble because I wrote my name in cursive on a worksheet I turned in and we weren't allowed to learn that until third grade.
So my answer is a resounding yes.
