Romney angers Palestinians with pro-Israel comment - CBS News

"If Romney came here to rally Israeli and Jewish support in the U.S. election, he can do that without insulting the Palestinian people."

Israeli officials received Romney warmly as he agreed with Israel that Jerusalem is Israel's capital, disregarding the Palestinians' claim to the war-won eastern sector, annexed by Israel in 1967 in a move that is not internationally recognized.

Romney's remarks also managed to offend some Jews, who thought the talk about Jewish prosperity played into an anti-Semitic stereotype.

Pressed if the Obama administration has been the most supportive ever, throughout history of U.S.-Israeli relations, Barak affirmed, saying that from his recollection of President Carter forward - "the defense relation between Israel and the United States are extremely stable and good."

No, only a partisan idiot as yourself would think that.

I love how one man supposedly whipped up a firestorm in the middle east..

because as we all know it's been so peaceful over there before Romney went..

my gawd...

Uncle Ferd says, "Yea...

... he shoulda waited a while after he got off the plane...

... a-fore he said, "Hey! How you Hebe's doing?"

What the fuck were they thinking sending a guy who cannot even get along with one of our better allies to a place which such conflict, and frankly a bunch of oversensitive people?

Days ago the republicans tried to trap the white house into stirring this conflict by declaring what they consider the capital of Isreal. The white house representative passed on the question and refused to give an answer to the dumbasses. Now we see the reason why. There was no good answer to start spouting off about.

We will be lucky if mittens the fuckup doesn't start WW3 before the election with his mouth.
That's exactly what he is (s)Elected to do.
Look at the bright side. Stocks will soar ( certain ones), unemployment will plummet and flag makers in Bangladesh will become multi-billionaires.

I think that was so patently offensive about what Romney said was that he tried to link the prosperity of Israel and the destitution of the Palestinian areas as one system being superior to the other.

Forgetting the fact that Israel is mostly a European-style socialist democracy.

Or that it's propped up by 3 BILLION American tax dollars every year.

Or that the Palestinian areas are under military occupation where they routine bulldoze peoples houses (and the occassional peace activist.)

Or that blaming Palestinians for their own problems is just a tad racist.

Some aspects of Israeli culture certainly help them succeed over the Palestinians.

The 3B US teet, the bulldozers and the sealing of occupied territories, for example.

What an f'in idiot.

Obama has a degree in international relations from Columbia and has been commander in chief for four years.

Romney fled to France to avoid the Vietnam war.

Who has more foreign policy experience?

It's about time a leader recognized Jerusalem as the true heart of the country.

Good show!

Good show of what a complete fuckup Mittens is. One would think that taking Isreal's side would mean not pissing them off, but Mittens shows us he is quite capable of insulting them while agreeing with them. It is actually hard to accomplish.

1) What are you blabbering about? Romney was praised by the Israeli leaders.

2) Israel is spelled Israel not Isreal.

If you mean who has more experience fucking things up internationally- It's Obama.

Seems Israel's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak praised Obama a whole lot more than he praised Romney. That's why I linked to his speech.

You said it was no Big Deal back in 08 when Obama did whip up a Fire Storm be Declaring Israel's Capital Should be Jerusalem and it should be Undivided.

Now you attack Romney for Pointing out a Free and Open Society like Israel has helped them Prosper more than a closed, Oppressive one like their Neighbors. lol

You have no credibility at all.
