Did America say NO! to authoritarian socialism?

Is Obama already a lame-duck president, only two years into his first (and likely only) term?

Probably not the change he hoped for.

He has time to change it, but is he temperamentally able to? Clinton was, I really doubt Obama is, but time will tell.

Dem lame-duck agenda shrinking fast after Election Day 'shellacking'

Democratic allies are not optimistic about their legislative priorities getting done in the lame-duck session after Democratic candidates got pummeled on Election Day.

Senate Democrats had discussed as many as 20 bills up for consideration during the lame-duck session, the period between the Nov. 2 election and Christmas.

In the wake of a midterm election that President Obama called a “shellacking” of his party, Democratic insiders question if anything more than a stopgap spending measure and temporary extension of Bush-era tax cuts can pass.

“I’m very pessimistic we’ll get much done,” said a labor official familiar with lame-duck negotiations. “We’re focused on extending unemployment benefits and middle-class tax cuts.”

“Republicans will try to put off everything so they can claim credit for anything that passes at the beginning of the new Congress,” said the source.

“I expect a short-term continuing resolution into the new year,” the source said, in reference to a temporary funding measure to keep the federal government in operation.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and other GOP leaders have made clear that they’re in no mood to help advance the Democratic legislative agenda...

For the record, I think McConnell is a jerk, he's certainly doesn't represent my viewpoints.

I've heard it said that the historic can of whup-ass known as last tuesday's election, was the American public loudly and defiantly saying NO to the authoritarian socialist agenda that the current administration appears to be pushing.

Did I hear wrong?

Yeah, you got it all wrong. People wanted more facist control and loss of freedoms in their lives, the war is good, the Top 1% is good, and Corporations are super good. That is the message Dude.

It said no to an authoritarian socialist agenda like the Democrats winning in 2006 said no to an authoritarian fascist agenda.

To understand the agenda, you have to look at those who donated to the RNC campaign, and are now expected to be highly rewarded.

No, you did not. America met the face of socialism and rejected it with a vengence.

The dems lost midterms for the same reason McCain lost in 2008. Reps crashed and burned the economy and the dems haven't fixed it fast enough.

The Dems got their asses kicked in the mid-terms because America is sick and tired of their bullshit. Watch for more Democrats to hit the road come 2012. Let me go ahead and tell you so it don't come at you like a surprise... In 2012 a Republican President will be elected and the Republicans will have control over both houses of Congress and it will be four more years of listening to Democrats whine and cry because they can't do shit about it.

They will if the economy doesn't improve and they can blame it on the Dems.

You can fool a lot of people but you can't fool me. :)

Did America say NO! to authoritarian socialism?.

Do I still go to prison if I don't pay taxes to support collective programs I've no wish to see put into effect, and I'm not rich enough to buy immunity?

If the answer to my question is 'yes', the answer to your question is 'no'.

Fair point.

So maybe America merely said HEY, slow down already!

They put the GOP back in, who were pretty socialist themselves back in the early 2000's, so I'd imagine that's closer to reality than an outright rejection of anything.

Personally, I think its just a matter of results, just like the election in 2006 and 2008. Namely your moderates and independents weren't happy with how things are going and decided to toss the jokers out.

No. They said HELL NO!!! Still a lot of work to be done though. The Socialists/Progressives still control the Senate and the White House. They're not gone yet.
