Democrats fear the true winds of change

It's not me that wants a return to the Bronze age. That's what happens when you war on science and cut education. "Magical creation" is merely a right wing "theory". But it's not real.

hey Dean explain California.....this State has thrown Billions year after year into it.....yet it has gone from top 5 to bottom 5......how much money should be thrown into it before you say thats enough......apparently throwing money into is not the answer....

You forgot the part where California voted themselves all sorts of tax caps while doing nothing for entitlements and services.

That never works out.

SEE: George W. Bush.

Yup...we keep voting for unicorns that fart glitter, but don't vote for the money to pay to feed them. That's a direct democracy for you...

Yes, thank you Malthus Hairnet. Shut up and go pedal a bike to charge your NiCads.

Conservatives understand that spending =/= education.

I can chuck a trillion dollars at schools full of Stuart Smalley clones teaching that they're valuable individuals who shouldn't have to worry about global competition because they're special just for participating! That won't help this nation in the global marketplace because other nations GET the fact that accomplishments and competition and achievement are the ONLY things that matter once the kids clear that schoolhouse door.

You can blather on about our universities supposed superiority in the world, but when so many of them outside that select group are having to focus on REMEDIAL schooling over things that students took in the 9th grade and never learned, it kinda just becomes "High School Part Deux". Foreign students thrive in them and look great because they already learned so much before they even came here in the first place, and make our kids look like bigger dolts when put up in REAL competition. Sure there are SOME exceptions, but the number of them is shrinking.

So here's your participant trophy, Hairnet.

Real Change

Universal Health Care System for all citizens, paid for with an increase in income tax.

Cutting our military back to the point that we spend only as much as the next seven nations combined.

Regulations that prevent the financial transactions that created the bust of 2008.

Election laws designed to create more voter participation, rather then prevent it.

Reversal of the United Citizens decision, corperations are not people.

If we had UHC, we would need to do it as a separate tax to income. Do the fucking math. It would become a monstrosity of a system within a decade.... you might benefit from it - but your grandchildren will loathe you for it. Haven't you dumped enough debt on them without this?

Idiot.

capping taxes while not reigning in spending because the politicians are totally owned by govt. unions... nope. I don't see any possible conflict of interests or impending economic disasters. All sunshine, rainbows and unicorn poop from here on in.

Why Right Wingers think they work so hard is a mystery. Their states suck. And radical immigration laws in Georgia and other southern states proved they are as lazy as can be.
Uh...hey dumb ass, you know that picture was taken in Illinois...right?

By the way, here is the typical democrat/liberal/progressive/socialist/USEFUL IDIOT.

But not to worry dean. Although you all suffer from optirectumitus...see the world out your ass...OCCASIONALLY the face of your party DOES make an appearance.

Why show Obama bowing when you can show Bush "making out" and "holding hands"? If Larry Craig is any example, Republicans are a "friendly lot".

Wow, you memorized some of the words. Amazing how little they mean if the economy is strong and growing. Things kind of pay for themselves. But Republicans don't know how to grow the economy. They know "ship jobs to China" and "bow before their corporate masters", but actually doing something to help the US is, gasp, "socialism".

Actually your universal health care is paid for up front by STEALING 458 BILLION dollars from Medicare. But that aside, move your ass to Canada if you want universal health care. Of course, you will be 12 times more likely to DIE waiting for treatment in their system. But hey, they won't send you a doctors bill while your waiting to die!

Oh, and while you're up there, you can rest safe in the knowledge that once we cut our military capabilities to the point that we can only protect the homeland and don't have to worry about all that nasty force projection stuff...when pirates start interdicting Canadian cargo and oil taker ships...WE won't interfere. Nope, Canada can use their 5 ships and 12 airplanes to escort all their assets around the whole world. Heck, maybe they will protect us since more than 1/3 of ALL WORLD COMMERCE originates or ends in America...we might need a little help.

As to the financial collapse of 2008. The regulations to stop it WERE there. Problem was political interference with the regulators who were suppose to watching it by jackasses in congress like Barney Frank. We didn't need more regulations. We just needed to enforce the ones we had and allow the market to work instead of FORCING lending institutions to lend BILLIONS to people who they knew would never be able to pay it back. THAT is what set up the feeding frenzy on all the bad paper floating around the market!

Election laws huh? Let's see, can you buy a gun without a picture ID? Hell, can you buy a car without a picture ID? Or insurance for that car without a picture ID? How about visiting someone in intensive care at the hospital? Hell, most hospitals require a picture ID to visit family members now. So...why doesn't someone explain to us just exactly HOW voting and the integrity of the election process in this country is so much less important than ANY of those things that a state shouldn't be allowed to ask for a pictured ID before we vote. Cause to me...that is fools argument...or a liar's protest!

"Reversal of the United Citizens decision, corperations are not people."

WHAT???

I take it you mean Citizens United decision. And if so...BULL! What needs to be repealed is that McCain/Feingold insanity!

We the People are guaranteed the RIGHT in the Constitution to redress the government with complaints as individuals or as groups. The 1st Amendment says plainly, "or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

That bill infringes on those rights AND set up the current bunch of abuses going on now, like contribution bundlers in the White House that has led to Obama paying off debts to his masters with tax payer dollars to unions, George Soros through his Brazilian Oil company holdings and companies like Solyndra!

What we NEED to do is reform the election reform act of '71 so that politicians can take all the damn donations they want from VERIFIED SOURCES, but EVERY DIME and who it came from has to be accounted for and any donation over 500 bucks PUBLISHED PUBLICLY so we know who their master's are. THAT would be real reform!

THAT would be REAL change....actual transparency instead of more lies and slight of hand!

I need to get a picture of a parrot just for you.

Really? My company pays one hell of a lot for my health care. Far more than the other industrial nations pay per citizen for their health care. And my health care ends at the moment of unemployment. Whereas, theirs is always there for them. Not only that, we have over 750,000 families a year that go bankrupt due to medical bills, the other industrial nations have zero families a year going bankrupt due to medical bills.

Then there is the matter of total cost and results. We, as Americans, pay more for less than any other industrial nation, and our results are third world.

You are full of shit. The Canadians far outdo us both in longevity and infant mortality.

So you like to kiss the ass of the Koch Brothers and others of that ilk. OK, typical 'Conservative'.

Right wingnuts came to believe, no doubt though watching MurdochTV, that "exceptionalism" is inherited and has nothing to do w/ a country's infrastructure (education, public health, communications grid, transportation, etc...)

Uh no. We would like to see quality educators who aren't pandering political pimps to a captive audience and come in at a fair price tag to the tax payers. Most inner city schools, I can attest from personal experience, view the kids as nothing more than cattle to shove through so the teachers can continue to get a check. Do they really care about teaching the kids anything of value? Only a few in comparison. The union protects them from being fuckups or incompetent in most cases, and they're subject to very little scrutiny from the public who are constantly lied to about why they need more money or little johnny can't read. He can't read NOW! They're too busy teaching him to feel GOOD about being ignorant because they can't stand the idea of being tough on them and making the little brat cry about being a loser and driving him to achieve for his OWN desired selfworth.

Yay, you feel good about yourself. Have you done anything to deserve it other than occupy 4 dimensions of space time? No? The fuck you got to feel good about, kid?

The 'war on science', hairnet seems to be coming from the left, twisting it to pretend fairy tales like the sky's gonna kill you if you don't revert to a hunter-gatherer thug totally dependent on big brother to survive let alone think, are true.

When more money is thrown into a school system, where does it go? Why are those books sealed from public scrutiny? Why is it when they leak out they find the vast majority of the funds goes to unions, lawyers and administration, but painfully little goes to the classrooms and facilities needed to teach? Ever wonder if THAT has anything to do with the issues in public schools? Of course not. You'd never question anything that shatters your presuppositions. If you actually did ANY critical thinking on cause and effect, causality and consequence your fucking head would burst into flames.

I was wondering about that.

If Corporations are people too, how do you identify nationality of the corporation?

Can a Communist Chinese government owned corporation give money to a candidate?

Yes

How about an Iranian corporation?
I don't think so, but Iran is the EXCEPTION not the rule.

Where are the safe guards against such a thing?

Safeguards?

Do corporations have to reveal who their owners/investors are?

Not to my knowledge, no. If a corporation is being taken over, if more than 5% of its stock is being purchased, THEN yes the owners or p[roposed purchasers have to report that sale to the SEC. Far as I know, that's it on reporting who owns the stocks of a US corporation.

But the INSIDERS (corporate officers and higher ranking employees) do have to report to the SEC when they buy or sell their stocks, FWIW.

If it were Americans that were given money to politicians, I would not have a problem. But when it is an organizations whose identity and intentions can be hidden give contributions for promises, I become a little afraid.

Well then... you ought to be living in a constant state of fear because there are absolutely no meaningful safeguards preventing foreign powers or corporation or individuals from insinuating their MONEY into our POLITICS.

I think that is a sure way to sell our republic to the highest bidder. Or to our enemies!

And you are absolutely right on that, too.

The USA is a nation whose leadership is on the block and ready willing and able to do business with anybody who can contribute to their elections.

And both parties do it, too.

BOTH parties.
