Bill Clinton certainly has not lost his touch. He had the convention audience in the palm of his hands. Couldn't believe the adoring faces in the crowd - what saps. Clinton is a smooth operator and there is no denying that he can give a heck of a speech.

Beginning his speech with the premise that the Dems were responsible for the 8 years of growth during his term and that he left his term with the country better off, he proceeded to bash the Republicans on every topic he possibly could as he built up Kerry. Big catch phrase for vet Kerry: "Send me!"

I noted that he mentioned the "world" over a dozen times as he continues to push his world socialism agenda. Do you somehow get the feeling he is auditioning for a job at the UN?

Bill Clinton's speech was at least half interesting. I thought Hillary's speech was boring. The rest of the the Dem convention speeches including Carter's and Al Gore's were also a big snooze.

Yes, he's quite the politician.

I especially enjoyed one of his opening comments about how this was going to be a positive convention and campaign, followed by a half hour of sarcastic pot shots at the President.

Did you hear President Carter's? Wow, he's as electrifying as ever. Positively glued to my TV.......

And the line about how he and President Clinton had solved all the Middle East's problems, (then indirectly implying President Bush had messed all that up)......classic.

Yeah, "Mr. Electrifying"

He was probably trying to justify his winning the Nobel Peace prize for which he did what again?

Slick willie is a class A pig, and I wouldn't give him the time of day, let alone take time out to watch him or his dragon lady wife speak.

I feel no matter what it was he had to say, I'm better off for NOT hearing it. All those two greasy old hippies do is raise my blood pressure everytime I see or hear them.

Screw 'em.

Clinton is a great speaker despite whatever you may think of him, and he had just the type of crowd to listen to him that would eat up anything he could say.

Hillary went over her 4 minutes and in her usual fashion said a lot without really saying a thing.

Carter did alright. Nothing really memorable.

Gore I thought should have had Hilary's spot since the last hour is the only hour being broadcast on fox, abc, and nbc, and he is a much better speaker.

I think that the bit about how there wasn't going to be any bush-bashing was overblown by Republicans who wanted to say afterwards that there was nothing but bush-bashing, thus hurting Democrats, but it is impossible to not bash-bush when he is the incumbent.

Gore----still whining about Florida and hinting that the GOP was gonna try "steal" it again.

Carter---I think he just got back from the dentist -could hardly understand a word he mumbled.

Hillary---Practicing for 2008 and trying real hard to appear moderate.

Bill-----Great speech for globalism and has em eating outta his hand--people even crying like he's a rock star or something.- My favorite was him saying that Kerry could have avoided serving in Viet Nem " Too" .

I didnt see carter or gore. Didnt care to. Didnt even want to see the Clintons either but i was bored cause the Phillies were getting their butts kicked tonight so i figured id flip.

I got there when Hillary was stating that she was going to introduce the last great Democrat President. and then i was like "What are you guys digging JFK up to speak?"

As for Bill, He had the image. he lost alot of weight. but most of what i was hearing in the speech was "me me me" He couldnt stop talking about how he is rich now. He is an eloquent speaker though. But then a wise woman once said, just because someone can speak nicely doesnt mean we ought to be listening to them. The actual substance of his speech was pure Democrat BS. I mean he complained about Education not being funded enough when the Department of Education is telling states to spend the money allotted to them or they are going to lose it because the States have a surplus of money in education. Or his BS that taking guns from lawful citizens makes crime decrease. Its the same old play book. What really made me think he had audacity was when he was saying Democrats try to unite people. What total BS! There whole platform is pit minorities against the majority, pit rich against poor, There whole platform is division.

i did notice one thing missing. Maybe i just didnt watch enough. But i noticed that there was very little mention of 911. You would think a life changing event such of that in American history would be important, but its like the Democrats are pretending it never happened. Just politics as usual. Its disturbing that people can ignore such a key event.

Everybody's just going to have to wait until the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION before they're going to hear the TRUTH about ANYTHING in a speach.

No shocker there. I only caught part of his speech, and from what I saw at least he managed not to get all red faced and bring up phrases like "brown shirts".

Well, he is getting pretty old.

Quite possibly the worst speech I've heard her make. Almost sounded like she made it up as she went along.

Yeah, he's still a great speaker, and still pretty long winded. Actually, it was a pretty short speech for Clinton. The whole "send me" thing is a nice catch phrase, problem is Kerry only said "send me" after his failed attempt to avoid service and go to school in France.

Hillary - made me want to stick a dirty sock down her throat. Nothing she said was notable. The woman is a total waste of good air.

Gore - looked like a dime store mannikin. I swear the man looks like he's made of plastic. He's still stuck in 2000 and pissed because he couldn't rig the election.

Carter - still thinks he knows what he's talking about. Still wrong. Looked like a corpse prepared by a drunken undertaker.

Slick Willie - gave the libs what they came for. Nothing new, same old bullshit.

The strategy is pretty clear. Use the claim "bush lied" and ride it all the way. Also are very pointedly attempting to appear tough on defense. Keep the base pumped up and say what they think will appeal to the swing vote.

The GOP attempts to point out the lies and hypocrisy of the left but I'm not sure what the few undecideds are listening to.

Image is everything and substance is nothing.

I missed Gore. But it sounds like he had the harshest tone of the four last night.
Carter sounds like he's starting to lose one too many brain cells from old age. While I admire his willingness to work on behalf of the poor, I think his politics are ludicrous, and I hope, for his sake, that he bows out after this convention.
Hillary - boring.
Bill - pretty good speech. Not that I agreed with anything that he said, but man, is he a good speaker. Very motivational. If Kerry can get Clinton to make a few speeches for him, he'll be doing all right.

I thought the first day went pretty well. I was surprised that Carter came out so critical of Bush, that's not usually his forte. He made some decent points though. Gore's speech was vetted pretty heavily, in fact, I heard his first draft was rejected entirely. It seems there is a concerted effort to tone down the negativity and I think, overall, it was mission accomplished.

Remember, the point of the entire the convention is to reach out to moderate swing voters and introduce Kerry to them. There is no need to whip up the base with anti-Bush vitriol. I think what you are going to see is a positive, upbeat message with the first few days building up a biography of Kerry and Edwards. Kerry was very successful, and Edwards too for that matter, by keeping positive in the primaries.

The challenge for the GOP is to do the same and stop hammering on Kerry. Swing voters don't want to hear that, they want to hear why we should vote for Bush or Kerry, not why we shouldn't vote for the other.

The polarization of America is in full swing. There is no need to cater to the people who have already decided and they are evenly split.

I'm not exactly sure which 10 minutes I caught (NBC last night at 10 Eastern), but I caught the 911 parts. I missed Gore, the Clintons, etc. The only person I was "lucky" enough to see was Glenn Close harping about the "sadness" of the day and how we will "never be teh same", and then they had the mother of a woman killed on Flight 11 speaking (could hardly understand what she was saying... she had a heavy accent). The last thing I caught was a violin solo. I turned it off after 10 minutes and went to bed.

with all due respect, reagans policies were indeed great for a blooming economy, but do not forget that we had 4 years between reagan and clinton where the economy did falter. crediting reagan for the entire economy boom for the 8 clinton years is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

not really. the products (high-tech) that drove our economy during the 1990's were products originally developed for the military under Reagan's years of spending on defense. Clinton allowed for the commercialization of many technologies (such as CDMA technology, the internet, and many others). So frankly, the credit does, to some extent, have to be shared. But one has to admit that Clinton's "inaction" is really what drove the economy of the 90's and it is also what ruined it.

I couldn't stand anything that was said by anybody last night at the DNC. And whoever it was that said Carter looked like a corpse...I totally agree with.

What bugged me the most though was Clinton being an a**hole for thinking that the entire world can just hold hands.

O well, that's my opinion...wish I could vote though.

When the RNC?
