I was out back putting suet cake in the feeder and noticed a squirrel in a hickory tree on the edge of my yard building a nest.

We had 30+ MPH west winds the last couple days and it has blew the leaf squirrel nests away.....So this little guy was "up-armoring" his nest with sticks that he would travel around the tree, cut with his teeth, and carefully put in place.

I guess the next step is to retrieve some leaves to finish building it out.

I also noted that the squirrel is taking advantage of the southern exposure side of the hickory too.

Rodents are the shit when it comes to building nests.

Trial and error? ... this is more of an experimental approach ... first build out of leaves because that's easiest ... if that doesn't work, try something else ... that's how guys do things ...

Engineering is for girls ...
