I want people to avoid a Major Life Mistake. NEVER push your college age kids into fancy expensive schools for the UnderGraduate work and then ENCOURAGE them to take on TONS of Student Loan Debt.
It's the arrogance of some parents to insist that since Kindergarten --- their kids would be on a Harvard or Stanford bound track.. EVEN IF their personal finances can't quite hack that. Those people should be ashamed of their misplaced enthusiasm for academic success.
THey are SIGNING THEIR KIDS INTO BONDAGE...
There is nothing wrong at all with getting a REASONABLE UnderGraduate degree at an inexpensive State College. And then saving money for a more prestigious Graduate School --- if that's in the cards. If won't make a huge diff on outcome and in a lot of cases, the students will be happier....
The student loan bubble is LARGELY caused by overleveraged parents that want SELF-validation by seeing their kids accepted into prestige schools that will assign teachers aides to do the UnderGraduate lecturing..
