What would be the effect of more folks putting in their 40 hrs/wk in 4 days instead of 5 days?

How many employment situations would there be where this would be beneficial to overall production ?

Would energy costs be less for business ?

Not having to report for work on the fifth day, could automobile owners then choose whether or not to burn fuel on that day thereby effecting fuel prices?

What would people do with the extra day?
    Would they spend more?
    Would they travel more?
How would this effect the recreation industry and industries that support that industry and so on and so on ?
Would the initial jobs created be likely to be shipped overseas?

If people had an extra day per week would some use the extra time to start new home projects?

If people had an extra day per week would some use the extra time to start new enterprises? Is it possible that innovations might result in the backyards, barns
basements and garages across America? Might one of these be the next great energy innovation?

Could giving more people an extra day per week be the most rapid method to improve the economy ?

What would be the effect of having school hours similarly adjusted so that more parents could spend the extra free day per week with their children?

What if school credit were given periodically for quality educational trips taken during a few of these long weekends ?

Could this extra day of quality family time be beneficial to a child’s overall education and wellbeing?

And the most important question, would America be better for the change ?

Unfortunately most businesses are open more than 4 days a week. Would you shut down all business 3 days a week. No shopping or recreation? Most businesses can't add more help to cover the extra day off without cutting the pay of those now working

They would have an extra day to spend money.

One way to look at it...
    Crime would rise.
    Alcoholism would certainly rise.
    Family abuse would rise.

I am playing the devils advocate here, but I am just saying there would be negative effects as well as good.

    It would save millions.

If we went to three days per week, it would save even more.

    wait....I see a pattern....

Small business accounts for 70+% of the jobs in America. They cant take off a day a week or the business goes under in no time!!!

    Next idea??

The business does not have to take the day off, just the people. Staggered hours is not rocket science.

What if instead of 5 days, we worked 6 days and rested on the 7th?
