Walmart and Cosmo: 9 things to know about the anti-porn group claiming victory

If you’re looking for 6 Ways to Get Rid of a Hickey Fast, you’re going to have to walk a little further into Walmart. The big-box store announced that it is pulling Cosmopolitan magazine from checkout lines at 5,000 locations because of its content, which some have decided is too racy. (Basically, this.) The publication will be sold in the store’s magazine aisle instead.

The move comes after the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) sat down in “collaborative dialogue” with Walmart, per the BBC, and the group is chalking up Walmart’s decision as a big win. “This is what real change looks like in our #MeToo culture,” Dawn Hawkins, the group’s executive director, said in a statement that is sure to go down in the history books as an impressive example of appropriation.

Will these socially conservative groups just crawl into a hold, and die already?

I just think people need to put their big girl panties on and STFU.

It wasn't that long ago that people weren't so offended by every little thing....grrrrrrrr

I remember many moons ago being at an HEB in S.A. Texas. There was this employee walking to every checkout isle putting a sticker on each copy of Cosmo. When I axed him why, he looked at me and said...
"Her Aureola is showing...they said we have to cover it"
I looked down at the magazine rack and saw a Time or Newsweek (I forget) that had a pic of a firefighter carrying a mangled, dead child from the OKC bombing and pointed at it
"You gonna cover that too?"
He just looked at me weird and kept sticking.
Murica baby!

Actually it too racy for the checkout aisle and can STILL be found where ALL the magazines are in the magazine aisle. Jeez stop having a heart attack over where they moved the magazines to. You whiner would be throwing a fit if a gun magazine was in the checkout aisle so....

Also, the average Walmart shopper couldn't fit into a Cosmo photo shoot.

They had to change their name b/c “Easily Offended Religious Busybodies” wasn’t in fashion anymore.

But it's not too racy for the checkout aisle. The whiners are the people who think it is.

Guess WalMart thought it was...it doesn't bother ME personally because I rarely even pay attention to the magazines in the checkout aisle. That shit is overpriced.

I am sure HBO is going to get rid of Game of Thrones any minute now.

A lot of people don't pay attention to the magazines in the checkout aisle. So Walmart moved Cosmopolitan over to where the magazines people actually do pay attention to are. This anti-porn group sure showed Cosmo.

It’s been awhile since I bought one. The last one I did, it was raunchy. Why I haven’t bought another. It was always a little salacious, but done well. Not any more.

In 2016, Game of Thrones was singled out by the group as emblematic of HBO’s “penchant for intentionally intermixing interesting plots with scenes of graphic nudity, sexual violence, rape, and incest.”

If I wanted sexual violence, rape, and incest I'd read the Bible. :eusa_snooty:

It's the granddaughter of Hearst so I think she has a say. Good for Wal-Mart for protecting our children from the smut peddlers in that feminist rag Cosmopolitan.

You realize they just moved it to the same section as the children's magazines.

And yet...
