After a thorough investigation it was determined that Cpl. Robert Emerson of the Oregon State Police violated policy as well as State Law when he ran a red light, struck a truck, and a pedestrian, before coming to a stop after crashing into a doughnut shop. For this violation of law, he was fined $260.
OSP probe: Officer violated rules before doughnut shop crash
Now, for what would have been reckless driving and would probably result in a suspended license for me and thee and possibly some jail time, well it was one incident in an otherwise long and distinguished career. I guess he never ran over anyone before while heading to get a doughnut.
The good news is that the people in that town learned an important lesson. Never get between a cop and a doughnut.
