Conservatives and the Power of Overly Positive Thinking

FROM THE ARTICLE:

In the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression, we have the GOP coming out against extending unemployment benefits. Before Christmas.

Members of the GOP proclaim that they'll vote against raising the debt ceiling, which would effectively bankrupt the United States of America.

New Speaker of the House John Boehner has moved to shut down the Congressional Ethics Office.

Grover Norquist, influential head of the conservative Americans for Tax Reform, has suggested that shutting down the government would be good for the GOP.

Republicans are holding off tax breaks for all Americans so that the wealthiest 2% of Americans can get their taxes lowered for income over $250,000. And add $700 billion to the budget deficit which Republicans say they want to eliminate.

Roger Ailes, head of the "fair and balanced" Fox News has called the President of the United States a far left "socialist," described NPR executives as "of course Nazis," and declared that Jon Stewart was "crazy."

------------------------------------------------------------

The real problem here is the "liberal" news networks refuse to expose the Republicans on their positions. Listed above is a partial list of those positions. Not even right wingers on the USMB would dare to deny it. In fact, most are proud of those positions.

Network news has become a series of "fluff" feelgood stories, leaving networks such as "Fox" reporting that the president is spending 200 million dollars A DAY on a single trip. And the Fox base believes that nonsense. Why? Because they have been conditioned to believe honest reporting from days gone by.

Only a total moron could possibly believe the president could spend 200 million dollars a day on a "trip". Oh, sorry Republicans. I didn't mean to call you.....Well, if the shoe fits......

Confident dumb people - Boing Boing

Have you ever noticed how incompetent people are often incredibly confident? Meanwhile, highly-skilled folks underestimate their ability to perform. That's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect named for Justin Kruger and David Dunning of Cornell University who published their study of the cognitive bias in a 1999 scientific paper. ABC Radio National's The Science Show recently explored the Dunning-Kruger Effect. According to the scientists, "Overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it." ABC Radio National's The Science Show recently explored the Dunning-Kruger Effect:

And there you go trolling again.

 You start hundreds of threads.... each one linking to the HuffyPuffy and accuse me of trolling. That's some funneh shiat rite there.

You're trolling me so technically that makes you a troll.

No it doesn't. You link your OP to a looney left Hollywood screenwriter who knows jack shit about politics and waste my and others time reading that schleck. Who's your next OP link gonna be to, Joy Behar?

Thanks for doing the work of quoting the article, I may disagree with you but at least you took a bit of time to do something anyone who starts a thread should be required to do, quote what is relevant or makes the point they wish.

Too many people here simply link to an article, pretty lazy, sorry if this is critical of anyone who has supported my threads or posts, but fact is, I am not going to take the time to follow a link unless a portion of the article is quoted and commented on. If I feel this way others do as well.

I know the president did spend over 200 million on the trip per day, one must remember our military is pretty expensive.

still stalking people?

And she has the facking nerve to say I'm obsessed with here when all she does is troll me in every thread I make bitching about HP.

She used to be my personal stalker, but when her contract was up, she left for greener pastures.

In the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression, we have the GOP coming out against extending unemployment benefits. Before Christmas.

Interesting how the article does not explain why they are against extending the unemploymet benefits. Whether right or wrong, they have valid reasons why extending them are a mistake. Throwing in the "before Christmas" is manipulation of the truth for affect. They had said it months ago.

New Speaker of the House John Boehner has moved to shut down the Congressional Ethics Office.

Again, right or wrong, there are valid reasons why he believes they should be shut down. I find it interesting that the article did not mention them

Grover Norquist, influential head of the conservative Americans for Tax Reform, has suggested that shutting down the government would be good for the GOP.

And Harry Reid, who was an ELECTED official and majority leader announced to the world that the surge was a failure without any data to back it up. So? people tend to say stupid things.
Republicans are holding off tax breaks for all Americans so that the wealthiest 2% of Americans can get their taxes lowered for income over $250,000. And add $700 billion to the budget deficit which Republicans say they want to eliminate.

This statement is mis representation of the truth. It ca be presented in another way that is just as accurate...Democrats are holding back tax breaks becuase they refuse to let the wealthiest 2% who pay 90% of all taxes enjoy the breaks as well

Roger Ailes, head of the "fair and balanced" Fox News has called the President of the United States a far left "socialist," described NPR executives as "of course Nazis," and declared that Jon Stewart was "crazy."

And other media outlets have ignored the non partisan Pew Research Center data and continue to call Fox a biased right wing news agency.

So I do not see why you put such credence in this biased article.
