Face it. it is the energy industry that has most of the money. And their money depends on oil, coal and gas. The first thing that logic dictates they spend their money on is crushing all other forms of energy. Now, what would these energy companies be most likely to pool their bazillions of dollars to do to crush any other form of energy.

The first thing to do is bribe politicians. That is more than easy to do. In many different but legal ways. Next, what if there is a particular material you need to make alternative energy. Well they just take their truckloads of money to whoever has those materials and buys controlling interest in them. And what if somebody wants to start a company that produces alternative energy. Chances are they are going to have to borrow money to do that with. And energy companies are basically the source of that money. So you could imagine how that would end up working out.

Even for the scientists who who create the technology for alternative energy, chances are they went to some university or college. With energy companies having most of the money, would you care to guess where those universities or colleges get most of their funding? And even for the funding that comes from the government, most of the politicians (if not all of them) are in the pockets of the energy industry to begin with!

There is only one way to make alternative energy work. And I will show you a picture of the type of person it would take to make it work. (Along with most other things)

The OP is wrong. Renewables are coming in on market economics. Both wind and solar are less costly per kw delivered than fossil fuels, and more dependable in regard to prices, as the price of sunlight and wind is constantly the same. Add grid scale batteries into the equation, and they are both 24/7.
