Everyone wants to think that cocaine was an ingredient because that is cool.


Yet, the fact is, cocaine did not exist when coke was invented. Cocaine would not be invented for another 13 years.

Not that words and meanings matter when applied to chemicals and such.
Apparently, not an isolated alkaloid was added there, but in general, purified cocaine was obtained by Albert Niemann in the middle of the 19 century, and was isolated even earlier

Purified coca? Cocaine was not synthesized until 13 years after coca cola hit the market. That is fact.

Yes, in 1958 and 1985 there were very tough anti-alcohol campaigns, this coincided with the relatively right-wing regimes of Khrushchev and Gorbachev under Eisenhower and Reagan.
