Change you can't be heavin'

The Westward Ho (a completely non-motorized parade) during R-Up in Pendleton used to have a tradition of Indian kids dressed in traditional garb who would dance through town, and all the spectators would throw change for them.

Someone decided it was demeaning for Indians and stopped the tradition..and we no longer have any but a few beautiful Indian kids dancing in the parade.

How that can be more demeaning that kids dressing up as clowns and going from house to house begging for candy, I don't know.
