There are accepted behavioral protocols for public officials in democratic societies. But Christie's rude and confrontational demeanor (surly, autocratic, name-calling) is more in keeping with the standards of a despotic office.

Such conduct does not denote special personal qualities because any politician can behave like Christie. Those politicians who refrain from such conduct are displaying authoritative constraint which is consistent with democratic ideals. Christie has no such concern which is a clear indication of what may be expected from him if afforded access to greater power.

Christie's disposition appeals to the authoritarian/submissive mentality, such as that which gave rise to Hitler and Mussolini.

I lived in Jersey for three years and Christie's behaviour is about normal. You better give as good as you get in the Garden State or you will get severely verbally abused.
