I totally agree, we should be electing politicians that work to get all American salaries and incomes into the income tax zone. Imagine a nation where 75% of the population had incomes over $250,000. The problem is that Republicans only seem to want a few like the Romney's to pay income taxes. Anyway it's a great idea.

In support of this position I posit that Hicksian--Keynesian aggregate demand analysis could and did predict the present situation where a quadrupling of the monetary base resulted in no inflation (when right-wingers were predictiong hyperinflation which never happened) and that inadequate stimulus (Christine Romer's estimate was that $1.8 trillion was needed) would result in anemic recovery. I also note that tax cuts for upper income individuals and large corporations as minimal stimulus effect in the current economy. So line up your "Austrian School" economists and austerian pundits. Give me your predictions for for growth, inflation, interest rates, and unemployment for the next year and we can see what kind of model actually works.
