Buys Ad To Warn About Socialism

"I’ve paid $1.9 billion in taxes in my lifetime, now I am being told that I am not contributing my fair share?" Peterffy said in an interview."

How much more of his 'fair share' is Peterffy suppose to pay? You guys won't be happy until the government confiscates all pay and doles out stipends.

The "fair share" term is used to make plunder sound just.

This bears repeating:

I've never understood why it's "greed" to want to keep money you've earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money.

-- Thomas Sowell

The modern liberal is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for covetousness.

-- daveman

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

-- C. S. Lewis

I think Peterffy is a good man for doing this.......He grew up in the utopia the left want and wants to warn us all about it.

Yet the left doesn't want anyone to hear that.

They want you to believe that socialism has "evolved" and is not the nasty socio-economic system it once was. Unfortunately, they actually seem to believe that.

yes as if stealing from the productive to give to the unproductive won't destroy everyone's incentive to work.

Barry's idiotic socialism is the last thing on earth we need just after China switched to capitalism and is coming on strong!!

America's wealth comes from America and he can damn well pay his fair share of taxes. He did not move to Spain and make billions. Just where did Thomas pull his billions from? The sky? He owes taxes back into the system that provided him the opportunity to make the money. No, he does have have to give up his billion so don't get stupid on the matter but he does have to pay his fair share back into the system he got his money from.
So, you don't think Thomas Peterffy pays taxes, huh???...Apparently it's not your step that's empty.

I think it's safe to say that he pays more in taxes in a year than you will ever earn in your entire lifetime.

1) the top 1% pay 40% of all federal income taxes, far more than their fair share while the bottom 50% pay almost 0% so far less than their share!!

2) moreover, the rich contribute to society with the products that sustain our lives while the poor contribute nothing so should be the one's paying most of the taxes, not the rich who have demonstrated that they know how to contribute to society and grow the economy!!

Liberals are perfectly insane on this issue and all issues!! Who can take them seriously at all. Average IQ of USMB liberal is 75 or less!! What would you say?

I totally agree, we should be electing politicians that work to get all American salaries and incomes into the income tax zone. Imagine a nation where 75% of the population had incomes over $250,000. The problem is that Republicans only seem to want a few like the Romney's to pay income taxes. Anyway it's a great idea.
Romney did pay taxes, at least for that one year, right?

The majority of the bottom 50% prefer government dependency to self reliance and have come to believe it is owed to them.

Otherwise, they would be in the top 50% and wealth redistribution wouldn't be an issue!

ie, they are much too irresponsible and unreliable to assume the position of "tax payer/provider".

After all, how can you expect people to pay America's bills when they can't even pay for a baby, yet they keep making them!

Liberals are perfectly insane on this issue and all issues!!
As a matter of fact, they do think and act irrationally much of the time.

Who can take them seriously at all. Average IQ of USMB liberal is 75 or less!! What would you say?
I don't actually believe liberals are less intelligent per-say...They are simply much more gullible and have far less common sense.

They've been indoctrinated into a huggy, feely, touchy, warm and fuzzy kumbayah fantasyland where the US is evil and capitalism is the problem.

I don't actually believe liberals are less intelligent per-say...They are simply much more gullible and have far less common sense.

Well, if they are intelligent they should be able to make an intelligent argument in support of a significant liberal position.
If you ever see an intelligent liberal argument please let me know exactly what it is.

I honestly have never seen one! That must say something!

Nor have I ever seen a liberal make "an intelligent argument in support of a significant liberal position" simply because there is no intelligent argument for an irrational position.

Regardless, there are well educated and even intelligent liberals but years of political correctness and ideological indoctrination takes precedence over their intelligence when they conflict.

Liberals are victims of their ideology that have been programmed to make critical decisions based on their emotions rather than their minds because emotions don't involve intelligence.

It is the only way to make smart people believe dumb shit!

You realize of course that you could replace "liberal" with "conservative" and say exactly the same thing. This is a form of intellectual masturbation. No matter how good it makes you feel, it produces nothing. Rather than discuss any issues, you prefer to throw around rediculous generalizations and ad hominems. So sad.

To avoid the charge that I am doing the same thing, let me posit a counterexample to refute your claim that you have never seen "an intelligent argument in support of a significant liberal position." I hope you agree that a sgnificant liberal argument would be that austerity is self-defeating and that the world and the Unted States needs fiscal stimulus. In support of this position I posit that Hicksian--Keynesian aggregate demand analysis could and did predict the present situation where a quadrupling of the monetary base resulted in no inflation (when right-wingers were predictiong hyperinflation which never happened) and that inadequate stimulus (Christine Romer's estimate was that $1.8 trillion was needed) would result in anemic recovery. I also note that tax cuts for upper income individuals and large corporations as minimal stimulus effect in the current economy. So line up your "Austrian School" economists and austerian pundits. Give me your predictions for for growth, inflation, interest rates, and unemployment for the next year and we can see what kind of model actually works.

too stupid and perfectly liberal!! inflation was always spoken of in terms of quantity and velocity!!!

too stupid but 1000% liberal!!! If recovery is enemic it is because of inadequate austerity! Austerity means fiscal responsibility like in Greece where they are learning to live within their means and create a sound basis for real economic growth rather than look to more and more liberal mal-investment and depression.

4) Europe is trying to steal money from Germany that Germany has thanks to austerity!!

Austerity in Europe is working wonderfully!! Their numbers are getting better while ours are getting worse!!!The idea that tax and spend idiotic liberalism will get us to a smaller debt is identical to saying more drugs will cure the junkie. How stupid can a liberal be???

Only a blind stupid monkey liberal would say more drugs would work. Why be so afraid to explain how on earth that is possible???? What does your inability tell us say about the IQ and character of liberals???????

Wolfgang Schauble:

"According to the latest estimates, the Euro zone's budget shortfall should be 3.2% of GDP this year, half the level of 2009 and well below the deficits of the USA and Japan. In the last 3 years the structural deficit- the fiscal shortfall adjusted for the change in the business cycle- has shrunk to
2.1% from 4.6%.

After years of steady rises in Spain Portugal and Greece and other places the current account deficits have fallen rapidly driven not just by retreating consumption and imports but also, crucially, by rising exports.

Unit labor costs in Ireland and Greece have dropped 12% since 2009 and by 6% and 5% in Spain and Portugal respectively. As the OECD acknowledged in its recent "Going for Growth"
the crisis has served as a catalyst for structural reform in those countries that most needed it, particularly in the labor market.

As these trend show Europe's crises management has proved itself."

I also note that tax cuts for upper income individuals and large corporations as minimal stimulus effect in the current economy

is this English?????????

Too stupid!! We are in uncharted territory. No one knows the future now. We do know that Solyndra, A123 Systems, bridge to no where, housing bubble, mal-investment will obviously prolong the depression as it did for FDR and Obozo so far!!

...and that inadequate stimulus (Christine Romer's estimate was that $1.8 trillion was needed) would result in anemic recovery. .

I've been asking this question for a long time, but have never gotten a rational answer from a stimulus supporter:

What happens to a government-funded job when the government funding runs out?

"There is no hope, no freedom, no pride in achievement".

Isn't that exactly what the Obama, Reid, Romney, Pelosi and the rest of the elitists want?

If we have no hope, no freedom and no pride then we will remain the subservient beings they seek to make us all into.

New Nationalism Speech by Theodore Roosevelt:

"The absence of effective State, and, especially, national, restraint upon unfair money-getting has tended to create a small class of enormously wealthy and economically powerful men, whose chief object is to hold and increase their power. The prime need is to change the conditions which enable these men to accumulate power which it is not for the general welfare that they should hold or exercise. We grudge no man a fortune which represents his own power and sagacity, when exercised with entire regard to the welfare of his fellows. Again, comrades over there, take the lesson from your own experience. Not only did you not grudge, but you gloried in the promotion of the great generals who gained their promotion by leading their army to victory. So it is with us. We grudge no man a fortune in civil life if it is honorably obtained and well used. It is not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it to be gained only so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community. This, I know, implies a policy of a far more active governmental interference with social and economic conditions in this country than we have yet had, but I think we have got to face the fact that such an increase in governmental control is now necessary.

Every dollar received should represent a dollar’s worth of service rendered - not gambling in stocks, but service rendered. The really big fortune, the swollen fortune, by the mere fact of its size, acquires qualities which differentiate it in kind as well as in degree from what is possessed by men of relatively small means. Therefore, I believe in a graduated income tax on big fortunes, and in another tax which is far more easily collected and far more effective -- a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against evasion, and increasing rapidly in amount with the size of the estate.

The people of the United States suffer from periodical financial panics to a degree substantially unknown to the other nations, which approach us in financial strength. There is no reason why we should suffer what they escape. It is of profound importance that our financial system should be promptly investigated, and so thoroughly and effectively revised as to make it certain that hereafter our currency will no longer fail at critical times to meet our needs."

So....that's the America you yearn for, Mikey? Where some bureaucrat decides who can have their own private property....and exactly how much?

It's been done before, comrade.

So, the man who goes to buy a car in Moscow, pays for it, and is told by the salesman that he can collect it on a particular date in 10 years' time. The buyer thinks for a moment and then asks: 'Morning or afternoon?' The salesman, astonished by the question, asks: 'What difference does it make?' And the buyer answers: 'Well, the plumber is coming in the morning.'
