The other day I was going to post this but was rebuffed so I thought i'd wait and do it apart from a Reagan thread.

Reagan dying made me think about the ex presidents still alive and what I thought about them upon the event they pass away. All of them I have respect for as humans even though Carter and Ford to a certain extent were inept politicians. Bush Sr. of course would get my respect even though I disagreed with him when he caved to the Demos and passed a tax raise and the fact that he ran such an inept campaign and lost.

Bubba on the other hand, shit I don't know, if the bastard fell down in front of me and had a massive coronary I can honestly say i'd spit on him and keep moving. I'd probably be one of these people we are calling assholes today and writing shit like good riddance and why not sooner and the world is a better place. I mean this sumbitch in my opinion did more to foster the current divisions we find in America and to promote this general policy we have at all levels of society of passing the buck. Not to mention all the other obvious fuck ups and "character flaws" he had.

I don't know, am I the only guy who feels like this about him? Are there others or am I completely fucked up?

I have to agree with the sentiment.

The true measure of a man is what he does when he knows he will not be found out.

Ron, I would follow anywhere. His character was that of a leader who genuinely cared for people and searched out what the right thing was to do in regard to the compassion for people.

Bill, I would not follow into heaven on an angel escorted garanteed ticket. His character was that of a shyster who genuinely hated people unless they would blow him and searched out what the most corruptable thing to do was while able to bring him power and money in the eyes of people who thought he had compassion.

Exactly, my opinion of Bubba(this includes Hillary too as in my eyes they are 1 in the same) is that every move he makes is for the enlargement of his power and everything else and everyone else be damned.

I'm going to make a prediction, he will run for public office again in the near future, in what capacity I don't know but he doesn't like not being in the game.

I wouldn't shed a tear, but I wouldn't be dancing the jig on his grave either. It would be a passing thought, something like, "Clinton? Dead? Wow, um, okay".

Well he has to enlarge his power. he is trying to compensate for other areas that arent large at all.

Seriously though. I understand what your saying. I dont like Carter or Clinton. The difference is i think Carter was naive while clinton is...more power hungry. I cant figure out which one has left our country worse. We are still dealing with problems from the Carter adminstation. I guess that depends on how much of Clintons mess we are dealing with in the future.

However, with that said, I dont think id spit on them. Id probably try to save them. Just cause we disagree with them and even though we may think they are the most evil person in the world, doesnt mean we have to sink to their level.

Lol nothing against RUN-DMC, but I would like to see a vid posted by Flasher/Chippewa of him breakdancing. That would be something!

Hey you got one of them red Addidas sweatsuits like they used to wear?

I have NEVER worn a sweat suit.

:D

Nah, I don't like addidas either.

I just thought the tune was cool.

I agree OCA. Ford was never even elected President and was kind of goofy. I have respect for Carter because of his personal religious convictions, although Carter had bery little leadership skills. Bush Sr. gave a lot of his time to the gov't and was a decent President, though he really screwed up by raising taxes. All of them I think I would reflect on in a ositive manner. Clinton... I think I would reflect on his death, but I don't know that I would necessarily feel sad. I just don't see much positive character in him, whereas I do see some positive traits in the others.

CLINTON IMPEACHED

_____

HE FACES A SENATE TRIAL, 2D IN HISTORY; VOWS TO DO JOB TILL TERM'S 'LAST HOUR'

By ALISON MITCHELL

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 - William Jefferson Clinton was impeached on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice today by a divided House of Representatives, which recommended virtually along party lines that the Senate remove the nation's 42d President from office.

A few hours after the vote, Mr. Clinton, surrounded by Democrats, walked onto the South Lawn of the White House, his wife, Hillary, on his arm, to pre-empt calls for his resignation. The man who in better days had debated where he would stand in the pantheon of American Presidents said
he would stay in office and vowed "to go on from here to rise above the rancor, to overcome the pain and division, to be a repairer of the breach." Later, Mr. Clinton called off the bombing in Iraq, declaring the mission accomplished. Mr. Clinton became only the second President in history to be impeached, in a stunning day that also brought the resignation of the incoming Speaker of the House, Robert L. Livingston.
