I appreciate the civil response. I do also know that his incredible popularity is a function of anger and frustration. And by the way, I can especially understand how part of his appeal is how his behaviors fly in the face of PC and Identity Politics, a topic with which I disagree strongly with the Left. I get that.Yes, I completely understand that they're cheering HIM, regardless of what he says.
That's the problem. Zero accountability. Zero honesty required. Zero examination or analysis. Just stand and cheer.
I don't know how such a thing can be considered good.
I think you misunderstand most Trump supporters and why we’ve supported him the last four years...
Supporting and Voting for Trump was as much a middle finger to the Republican Party establishment as it was a matter of truly believing DJT was the best option available. We are sick and tired of Centrist-Leftist establishment politicians who are out of touch with most Americans.
So when DJT showed up and at least paid lip service to the things we believe in he became a Cult Hero. When he suddenly won it was like hitting the jackpot at the casino on your first pull of the lever. Everything after thst is playing with house money. THEN when he actually started trying to DO the things he talked about, that was just icing on the cake.
DJT is a bag of sugar in the gas tank of the car of an American Government that we’ve come to despise, and that’s WHY we love him so much.
Where I'm most concerned is that (a) I also know that acting on this type of emotion, anger and frustration can lead to long term damage in ANY situation, and (b) part of this response includes Trumpsters literally allowing themselves to be isolated from any information that doesn't fit with their worldview. That's pretty freaking dangerous.
I think I get it for the most part -- the devotion to Trump is essentially a group primal scream -- but I don't think a republic can exist for long like this. And I also know that some Trumpsters are fine with that, too.
