Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann’s Iowa campaign chairman Kent Sorenson tonight endorsed Ron Paul, one of her rivals in the Iowa caucus race.

“I believe we’re at a turning point in this campaign,” Sorenson said during his surprise announcement this evening at a Ron Paul rally in Des Moines. “… I thought it was my duty to come to his aid, just like he came to my aid during my Senate race, which was a very nasty race.”

The state senator from Indianola was greeted with a round of applause from the roughly 500 people gathered at the Iowa fairgrounds for the event.

Many rose to their feet and hoisted Paul campaign signs above their heads when Sorenson added: “We’re going to take Ron Paul all the way to the White House.”

Sorenson told The Register he had been thinking about supporting Paul for a couple of days, but that he didn’t make the decision to switch campaigns until this evening.

Only a guess on my part....and I am more of a Paul fan than a Bachmann fan....

But....

My guess is this is nothing more than a man who sold out for more money.

Nothing to praise or applaud. It is a sign of the times.

The question I have is why would Paul pay someone to support them? Paul has by far the least establishment support of anyone running, what would the hope be, that while leading in the polls paying for a single person's support would somehow win Paul the nomination?

In the end I would think if they paid this guy there would be to be a trail being they used campaign dollars, so maybe we'll find out that way?

That's just hilarious! I'm sure she will come up with some conspiracy! It was money! UnAmerican activities! Socialists!
This senator is not quite as stupid as he was one day ago.

Come on...you are certainly smarter than that.

Having the chair of ones campaign jump to your campaign 6 days before the Iowa caucus is not as minor as one person changing the person he supports.

I am not saying Paul bought a vote. He very well may have enahnced his campaigvn while destroying his opponenets campaign.

I guess my point is I doubt Paul had much of anything to do with the guy changing over to support Paul.

It honestly feels like the guy just shifted to supporting Paul on his own. The guy (Yeah I dono his name off hand) claimed he changed because Paul supported him during his Senate campaign and it was a hard campaign. Then he claimed Paul is doing very well, IE electable, or more electable than Michelle, so he switched to back Paul.

I can't say I see this is a bad thing, if Paul was polling 8-10% like Michelle, and someone wanted to switch their endorsement because the other person they liked was actually winning I think I'd understand...

you know Paul a lot better than I do.

Mine was just a guess.

I may very well be wrong.
