Bond......James Bond. Changing Our Perceptions Of What A Man Is

Why do all you "real men" have so many pictures of transexuals near at hand? You are searching the internet for pictures of trans persons and I'm the un-manly one?
They hacked your private files?

I'd prefer them give the role to an unknown.
Let somebody else become famous for a change.

Actully kind of tired of all these asshole "A" celebs playing superheroes and such.

Nobody heard of Christopher Reeve before he was Superman. He was AWESOME, he was goodlooking, he was suave.
And America fell in love with him.

Let that happen to another unknown. Just the RIGHT ones though.

I agree with that... but alas, they won't.
It will probably be some fem boy bisexual who is also a feminist.

Glad to hear that the origial author viewed the Bond character as I did. Which is why Roger Moore was by far my fave Bond. He would make for the best spy for sure. Neanderthals fail and are often the first to flip under pressure.

Roger Moore was the worst Bond of them all.

hehe. A loud Scoftish scowl causing trouble with dark eyebrows that don't match his hair co!or. He would stick out like a sore thumb!
And, for his time, Connery was a big man.
At the time he played Bond, he was 6' 2" and weighed approximately 190 lbs.
According to statistics, the average man in 1960 was 5'8".
So yeah, a man with a strong accent, tall and especially handsome would never make a good spy.
The most believable character was probably Daniel Craig. Average height and weight, a little better than average looks, but not enough to attract attention.

I also liked Moore better than Connery's depiction.
Connery was too over the top "Don Juan" than a spy dude.
Not that Moore didn't get the girl, he did, and that has always been a part of Bond... but Connery made that the central theme of who he is, rather than a portion of who he is.

For me, Roger Moore was and always will be Simon Templar, The Saint. He should have never, in my opinion, been cast as Bond. The films he made as Bond are almost farcical in nature, too much humor.

My list of the best Bonds (descending order):

Craig
Connery
Dalton
Lazenby
Moore

I have never seen the TV series with Barry Nelson. The original Casino Royale was a spoof so I don't count David Niven. And Pierce Brosnan? :lmao:

The best 007 was Pierce Bosnan, surpassing (believe it or not!) Sean Connery. But let's be honest, a great part of the success of the franchise is the directing and the budget. The worst Bonds were Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton ..... Moore because he couldn't act worth a shit and Dalton because he was given worhtless dialogue & directing.

I read an article yesterday about how the author felt that Sean Connery never should have been James Bond.

Apparently he felt that Sean Connery was too much of a male chauvinist pig. He wanted Bond to be more suave and sophisticated.
Unfortunately fans didn't feel the same way. That's what Hollywood and the New York MSM is Hellbent on changing.

I don't think it's going to work.

The Bond that Ian Fleming envisioned is more like the Beta Boy that is in the first seconds of this scene. Not the dangerous Scotsman that eventually set the standard that all ensuing Bonds would be measured with:

There were talks of turning Bond into a black female. That would be a massive mistake. Nobody would pay to see yet another woke lecture on gender reassignment. Unfortunately Amazon owns MGM, and taking consideration into the way they screwed up the Lord of The Rings franchise....I'm sure they'll screw this one up too.

the producers originally wanted roger more but he was committed to the saint so that opened the door for connery.Moore did connery a huge favor. would have been interesting to see how Morre working with more serious scripts back then would have been as James Bond, when he came on board, they decided i guess cause of his gift for comedy,to make it more tongue in cheek .
