Republican "SuperPAC" American Crossroads Raised $24 Million in Seven Months, Report Shows - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

The giant haul was made possible to Supreme Court changes in campaign finance rules which allow some groups to raise unlimited contributions. American Crossroads is led by Steven Law. Also on his resume: he was "chief legal officer and general counsel" for the Chamber of Commerce.

“And the Republicans have made, I believe, a concerted effort to divert as much campaign funding as they can into non-reporting entities aided by the Supreme Court decision, the Citizens United, so the American public will not know who is funding the campaign,” he added.

Tim Kaine Worried Karl Rove May Be Right - George Stephanopoulos' Bottom Line

    ---------------------------------

Republicans like to say, "What about Obama?" Only Obama received contributions from millions of Americans.

What do you want to bet that Karl Rove and the Chamber of Commerce is receiving it's money from a few hundred people or less? We know at least two donations. 5 million and 7 million from just two people. You know that Hugo Chavez would certainly give money to the Republicans and not the Democrats. Citgo is an oil company. Republicans apologize to them and give them subsidies.

What position in government does Karl Rove hold?

The top contributors to Crossroads are a builder in Texas (Perry), the owner of Public Storage, and the owner of Gold's Gym.

    Real subversives.

Are you assuming a payback is expected because of a donation?

which I consider to be a reasonable assumption. This conclusion is based on decades of empirical evidence.

Those are just ones they know for sure. They are American so they admit to them. What about the other 65 million dollars? Or the 75 million from the Chamber of Commerce?

The Supreme Count gave citizens rights to only US companies , not foreign companies.

The Chamber and Foreign Contributions | FactCheck.org

Q: Is illegal foreign money being filtered through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to fund ads attacking Democrats?

A: The chamber says dues money paid by overseas companies "is not used for political ads," but won’t discuss how it segregates those funds. Democratic and liberal groups want an investigation of "likely" or "possible" legal violations.

    FULL QUESTION

What’s the truth behind the assertion that the Chamber of Commerce is funding ads attacking Democratic candidates with money solicited from foreign interests — China, oil emirate, Russian banks, etc. Currently MoveOn.org is working this story.

    FULL ANSWER

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue has declared that his group will spend $75 million in connection with the upcoming midterm election. But the chamber won’t say specifically where that money is coming from, which gives corporations a conduit for funding attack ads anonymously.

They are American. That's why we know who they are.
